re: OT Watch Bros: thoughts on Seiko?

The gmt is a very good watch mine keeps perfect time as long as I wear it.

Have an SKX 007 Black & 009 Pepsi bought 20 years ago.
Fantastic watches, heavy on the wrist but great watches.
Can dress them up or down.

I have a Hamilton Murph I absolutely love - Hamiltons make great watches, the thing I noticed over the couple years I've collected and gotten into watches is you can really feel the quality difference in setting the watch on a couple hundred dollar watch compared to a sub $1k watch

The feel on the crown setting, it's very noticeable if that matters to you - not saying the less expensive watches won't work well, but it's made me sell my less expensive watches to only go for nicer $1k and up watches.

Only Seiko I have is an old quartz movement. I’ve seen a few recent-ish Seiko models and like them a good bit.

My most recent watch purchase was a Seiko. The band in cheaper, so I swapped it for a nice alligator leather band to match a pair of my luccheses.

They are great watches. I think I have 6 of them right now. I've had a lot more over the years. I have that same GMT, just in blue and black, right now and wear it often. The only complaint I have on that watch is the crown is not screw down. I have probably owned 100+ watches in my life, and I still wear Seiko automatics 90 percent of the time.

Seikos watches are great. Wether you are using it to break away from your smart watch or if you just like the way one of them looks, they are a great choice. I am not a big Grand Seiko fan but its just me.

My only advice is to not over buy a Seiko. For example, the HBC001 MSRPs at $1400. You are almost in the ball park of a used Tudor. The Tudor is much better watch/value.

I've had two Seiko 5 watches and I really liked the look and feel. However, neither kept time with any consistency. They were both very disappointing.

I still like Seiko watches despite the inconsistent movement on their cheapest mechanical. If you get a Seiko mechanical, get a higher tier than the Seiko 5.

I still have an SKX007 and Orange Monster from 2010ish and will never get rid of either. Both still keep great time for what they are. The movement in them isn't worth the cost of servicing them, so I will just wear them until they stop and get a new movement when that time comes.

Seikos are also great on Nato straps.

I have an Orange Monster dive watch from Seiko and I love it. My everyday casual watch.
