Seiko makes a solid entry level watch and they have a ton of options. I recommend going and trying on as many of them as possible. Seiko is readily available and you should be able to try on a ton of options. You'll probably immediately know whether it's the watch for you when you try it on.

This green one is very sleek. Similar price point to what I have been discussing in this thread. Sort of wonder as well.
Would like a green Seiko Alpinist and then a Date Just look alike… this Tissot sort of fits that bill.

Skip the Seiko 5 stuff. It’s their lesser brand. Try watches from their Prospex line.
I have 2 JDM (Japanese domestic market) Seikos from the early 2000s, both built like tanks. One is a Tuna (SBBN007) and the other is a Sumo (SBDC001). Both are from before their professional watches were labeled Prospex. I’m a big fan.

Prospex is also double or more the price point. For people looking at beginner's watches that is a different animal.

But Prospex is in line with the Pressage and Alpinist. Seiko 5 is not.

I love the look of the Presage Cocktail Time. I'm just not super into watches so I haven't gotten one. I've really only very recently became a little interested but I am looking more in the 150-350ish range rather than the 600+ range

Pretty sure Orient is made by Seiko & has their own movements. Is good value

They make a very very solid and affordable watch. Currently wearing the presage mojito. I did change the leather strap on it but its a beautiful watch.

Orient is owned by Seiko Epson, not Seiko Watch Group. Similar names, but different.

Here is my wife’s Prospex SUR597. It’s on the higher end for a quartz IMHO. She loved it and had to have it. Happy wife, happy life.

I agree with that. Anyone ok spending 1.5-2k in a few watches honestly should sell off everything, save for a few more months, and spend 3-4k for a one watch collection. Be it a Tudor Black Bay, IWC Mark XX, Breitling Avenger, Omega Seamaster, even a Grand Seiko 9f quartz.

I have that same watch but the dial is branded, been wearing it for a year. Figured id end up losing or breaking it so I didnt want to spend a lot.
I did put a better band on it.

Seiko makes wonderful functional watches that you can actually wear without fear. I love them
