Drove Houston freeways for 15 years. If you can drive well there, you can drive anywhere. Just go with the flow, most are assholes so just be an a-hole too

I have a Steeldive Capt Willard with sterile dial. Has a Seiko movement and is everything you could want in a beater. I swap NATO straps as I desire. For 80 bucks at the time I got it, it's hard to beat for value.

Steinhart or Squale for a sub homage. They are solid and affordable.
If you like Seiko then also check out Orient, they make their own movements.
Lum-tec has some very interesting models.
