Let's Check in on the California Ocean Front Rebuild

A year and a half later and absolutely nothing. The angry lesbians at the permitting office are definitely blocking any rebuilding.

My SIL and her husband live fairly close to the beach on the Redondo Beach-Torrance town border there in LA county.
They had severe mold in their house due to a sewer leak under their house (totally unrelated to the fires). They've been living in a $5k per month rent house since January and they haven't even been able to submit for a permit to the county yet. They're still playing dick around games with the GC and the architect. At this rate, it will be 2 years before they can move back into their house.

I bet the loss of property tax revenue runs in the 100's of millions range with those properties lying dormant.
Yeah, they're collecting some property tax on the empty lots, but losing WAY more with it not being rebuilt.

Those people helped make California what it is with their money, frick them. Do not care they cannot rebuild.

shite man. Drywall isn't the problem.
Their sewer pipe was leaking in their crawlspace. The house was growing mold everywhere. They had to trash 90% of their belongings and the house has been down to the studs since January and they probably won't even be able to submit for a building permit for a couple more months.

Same, however, the entire point, like with rent control in New York, is for government to ultimately assume ownership of these properties. This is how you establish marxism. Now normally, i'd just say, who cares, let California rot. But, i'm not one to give up. Just because everything in liberals lives is cancer, doesn't mean we just let them have it. They want to build a marxist utopia, ship them off to Haiti.
