The angry lesbians at the permitting office are definitely blocking any rebuilding.

Remember their chosen DEI queen Bass said they were going to relax the building codes so everything would be built back in a timely matter.

Now these crooked fools are going to put her back in office because she's gay and black.

My co-worker is from the Palisades and his family still lives there. They aren't letting them rebuild without going through insane red tape and the cost to build with "new" California building codes that weren't around when the original houses were there is completely cost prohibitive.

Insurance companies are also fighting tooth and nail over payments.

He thinks California wants to turn big areas into rent controlled, sort-of Section 8 style residences, which if you ever went to the Palisades before you would know that's absurd. It's one of the nicest areas in the country.

His mother lost her home, which was her father's. They want to rebuild the exact same, but it just can't happen. Haven't even broken ground. And these are wealthy people that can't get it done.

ETA:

Also, my co-worker is a big GOP guy and said the whole area in the Palisades is red, sort of like Newport. Adds to his conspiracy theory. He still has a Spencer Pratt sign in his yard in East Tennessee

Their “voting” is just as rigged as this rebuild process. California is beyond lost.

They voted for this

There are almost 6 million republicans in California. The most of any state in the country. They also cast the third most votes in the country for Donald Trump, just barely behind Texas and Florida. People forget that because of the majority there.

The nicer areas like sub-sections of the Palisades that burned are part of that.

City officials view this disaster as an opportunity to redistribute land and wealth to the masses. They will utilize the bureaucracy to its fullest extent to accomplish this.

You think the county adjusted the assessed value in a timely manner?

Whether they did or didn't, the owners have a right to an appeal once the houses were destroyed and had to be torn down. HUGE difference in taxes between an empty lot and one with a multi-million dollar house sitting on it.
