I had a guy quote $10k many years ago for 5-ton, then I found one that would do it for 8k, and suddenly the first guy’s price dropped to $8k. There’s a lot of wiggle room so get enough quotes to not be screwed....

This happened to me on a L1011 landing in Nola, but wasn’t that rough. Wheels down for a few seconds then took right off again. Captain came on and said in his deep, soothing Lyle Wagoner voice “Well folks, we didn’t have all our minimums just right, so we’re gonna come back around and do it again...
