Medical profession says there is no evidence or studies that support this.

Stated another way, placebo effect.

That’s not said to minimize the chosen treatment. If placebo works, go with it.

Sweet relief for hemorrhoids

i get a hemorrhoid about once a year like fricking clockwork. usually lasts 3 or 4 days and at first i was trying tucks, and prep H then finally just used a little cortizone.

the last 2 times i did NOTHING at all and it went away in...3 or 4 days.

i'm on the less-is-more wagon. an occasional ibuprofen for a hangover or aching muscles, gummy multivitamins from costco once a week and a baby aspirin once a day b/c i have a history of stroke in my family.

jinx

also i missed the point of the thread. i thought it meant 'things you do the doctor didn't prescribe' including medicine or vitamins you take.

i see you meant more of 'household staple' types of home remedies.

Are you retarded? Mainly bc it’s not being used as it’s instructed to. Putting it on the bottom of your feet and wearing socks isn’t in the instructions

You’re saying an OTC medicine from one of the largest corporations in the world is a home remedy?

so here is my home remedy for colds: garlic fermented honey

I always keep a jar and anytime I feel that little itch in the back of my throat I eat a piece of of the fermented garlic and the honey twice a day

I definitely think it helps reduce symptoms and length of colds

gargling salt water.

I do this every time I feel the twinge of a sore throat and the issue is gone in a day. don't know if that's the placebo effect or not, but it works.

sit in the sunlight

This is absolutely true.

Sunlight = vitamin D

Vitamin D = proven reduction in mortality (infections/viral/etc) and improved immuno and depression response/rate.

If hospitals put patients outside for 20 minutes a day I’m 100% convinced stay duration and mortality rates would decline but it would be a pain in the arse for the nurses and you can’t bill for the sun so they don’t.

He’s topically applying Vicks to treat a cough. That’s exactly what it’s used for. They suggest chest he prefers feet. His whole bedroom still gonna smell like Vicks and he’s inhaling the fumes as intended.
