Every kid under the age of 15 believed that if you jumped in the pool within 30 minutes of eating your stomach would cramp up so severely that you would immediately sink to the bottom and drown.

Reye syndrome
Reye syndrome is a rapidly worsening brain disease.[2] Symptoms of Reye syndrome may include vomiting, personality changes, confusion, seizures, and loss of consciousness.[1] While liver toxicity typically occurs in the syndrome, jaundice usually does not.[2] Death occurs in 20–40% of those affected with Reye syndrome, and about a third of those who survive are left with a significant degree of brain damage.[2][3]
The cause of Reye syndrome is unknown.[2] It usually begins shortly after recovery from a viral infection, such as influenza or chickenpox.[1] About 90% of cases in children are associated with aspirin (salicylate) use.[2] Inborn errors of metabolism are also a risk factor.[3] The syndrome is associated with changes on blood tests such as a high blood ammonia level, low blood sugar level, and prolonged prothrombin time.[2] Often, the liver is enlarged in those who have the syndrome.[2]
Prevention is typically by avoiding the use of aspirin in children.[1] When aspirin was withdrawn for use in children in the US and UK in the 1980s, a decrease of more than 90% in rates of Reye syndrome was observed.[2] Early diagnosis of the syndrome improves outcomes.[1] Treatment is supportive;[1] mannitol may be used to help with the brain swelling.[2]
The first detailed description of Reye syndrome was in 1963 by Australian pathologist Douglas Reye.[4] The syndrome most commonly affects children.[2] It affects fewer than one in a million children a year.[2] The general recommendation to use aspirin in children was withdrawn because of Reye syndrome, with use only recommended in Kawasaki disease.[3]
I had this. I was around 2, 1973. In Germany (my dad was stationed at Hahn AFB. Doctors told my mom I likely wasn't going to survive. I was basically in a coma, so either stage 3 or 4 (out of 5). I pulled through though! No long term side effects, no brain damage (although some might disagree).

No, it wouldn't. The infield fly rule is only in effect to prevent double plays. This SHOULD NOT have been a double play if the idiot batter would have run to first like he is supposed to.

Weren't there also leaks within one of the alphabet agencies that were giving illegals a heads up about where ICE was striking next?

I think the match would be neck and neck at first, but eventually Minnesota Man wins.

re: What Is The Most Bizarre Death You’ve Ever Heard Of?
Posted by SouthEndzoneTiger on 4/11/25 at 12:45 pm
This isn't bizarre in the way he died, but under what circumstances. The older brother of a friend of mine, a dedicated husband and family man was killed in a car wreck. He was in the passenger seat of a car being driven by a woman that was not his wife. Both were killed. She had a ran a stop sign and they were t-boned by a large truck. Both families were devastated, not only by their deaths, but also because of the obvious affair (neither family knew each other).
Fast forward a few weeks after the funeral, and my friend's wife notices that her late husband's dirt bike was missing. His brothers decided to investigate. Was it stolen? Not likely. They decided to go search some trails that he used to go ride, which turns out wasn't far from where he got killed in the car wreck. Sure enough they found his bike, wrecked badly.
It turns out he wrecked his bike and had a compound fracture to his lower leg. He managed to drag himself to the highway and flag down help. The woman who picked him up was trying to rush him to the hospital when they got in the wreck.

I had to get gas to mow my lawn the other day.. forgot my wallet at home. But I had $3 in my center console
Walking into that gas station and saying $3 on pump 4” made me feel so damn poor
Back when I was like 21, me and a buddy were broke but wanted to go out. I called my cousin who owed me like $40 and he said he would meet us at Jacks in PA (we were living in Tigerland). My buddy's truck's gas gauge was broke, and he knew from the mileage he was close to empty. We ran out of gas coming down the MRB and literally coasted into the Chevron at the foot of the bridge. We scrounged around his truck and managed to find 25 cents. Not a quarter, but 25 cents in mixed changed. I made him go pay.
re: Be careful what you wish for
Posted by SouthEndzoneTiger on 4/9/25 at 3:27 pm
I made a hole in one on a par 3 hole one day. When I pulled my ball out of the hole a genie popped out and granted me a wish. I, of course asked to be extremely well hung. I wake up the next morning and holy shite, it was down to my ankles, almost sticking out of my jeans. Wearing shorts was impossible. I had to rectify this situation, it was just too much. I went back to the golf course with a 5 gallon bucket of balls, all day trying to get another hole in one. Finally, just before dark I succeed. I pull the ball out of the hole and sure enough the genie pops out, granting me a wish. Out of breath and very thankful, I said, "I need you to make me taller."

How ridiculous. This judge is a moron.
So the first amendment guarantees the right to have access to political press conferences? Wow.
No, it says you can't kick someone out because of a differing political viewpoint.
quote:
So using that standard, I and every other American also have the right to attend WH press conferences. They should hold them in a stadium.
Not necessary, thousands of journalists are not allowed, for other reasons, but NOT because they have a differing political viewpoint.

I'm as MAGA as the next guy, but I stated in the OP that I tend to agree with the ruling. Whether it's actually unconstitutional or not, I think it was kind of a petty move over an insignificant thing. I also think it's opens up the dims to all this pronoun bullshite. We may end up thanking the AP before this is over with.

So she is OK with blacks not being able to drive, fly, cash a check, rent a car, buy alcohol, go to a bar? But the line she is drawing is voting? She's cool with everything else they can't do without an ID?
