Saw one in the woods by erwinville 5 days ago. Was pretty cool to see it running across a stretch of open space.

I’ve always found it interesting that Louisiana has a native black bear population.

It isn't the state mammal for no reason. There used to be a much larger population.

I’ve seen quite a few in Iberia and St Mary parishes. I’ve seen them at both Cargill and Morton salt mines around the dumpsters looking for something to eat.

When he realized there was a human in the stand, he ran like hell

Came across one on a trail and he also bolted. They seem to be very aware of humans and they do their best to avoid us. Beautiful animals though.

Hauling grain down Sharkey Road I've seen several. I once had to stop my truck because a mama couldn't get her 2 cubs out of the road. It took a while but she got it done.

Not in LA, but in the east TN mountains. At my buddy’s cabin party in Pigeon Forge. Drunk as frick and decided to go outside to piss. Mid stream, I look and see a pair of eyes reflecting in the light staring at me. Shine my phone light and it’s a bear. I finish pissing and slowly turn away towards the cabin.

Black bears are kinda like big dogs in that they won’t do shite most of the time. But you never know if it’s a mother protecting her cubs.

You didn’t see a black panther because they don’t exist.

I was checking soy beans one time in college and one hopped up about 15 feet from me and took off. Scared the crap out of me. This was Tensas parish.

We see them all the time. Bluff charged by a momma with three cubs last November. We have seen them since I was a kid and never saw any aggression. That time was different…

Saw the first one 25 years ago in the swamp on a ridge. Saw the second one last year 1500 ft behind the house. Less than happy about that.

Had one run across the road in front of me while heading to Cypremort Point a couple years ago. Blew my mind just how damn fast they can move.

Not yet but sure it won’t be much longer considering the population growth.
