re: Possible fix for those burned by Scott’s rotary spreaders - ronk on 7/2/22 at 9:28 pm I’ll let you in on a secret. When’s Scotts LawnService was in business they didn’t use a Scott’s spreader. They used Andersons. ... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Anybody know how to kill zoysia that is creeping into my mondo grass? - ronk on 7/2/22 at 9:44 am Art has a good response. Dig up, remove zoysia, and replant. Another option is to water down some round up and spray. Zoysia is more sensitive than mondo so watered down round up might not effect it.... re: Bahia grass control - ronk on 7/1/22 at 10:49 am Don't soak. Use a fan tip and hold the spray end at knee height. You simply walk at normal speed and start spraying before the weed and stop spraying after.... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: 'Worst version of COVID' will be dominant in U.S. by July - ronk on 6/30/22 at 6:58 pm I currently have covid even though I refused to get tested. Wife works as a teacher, 3 year old goes to the same school. Small private school. Multiple kids/teachers tested positive. Son runs a fever, tired, etc. Two days later I get a fever and fatigue. Take Tylenol and fever gone in 5 hours.... Posted on O-T Lounge Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: 2022 Lawn thread - Post your pics, updates, questions, etc. - ronk on 6/30/22 at 10:16 am Only bag the first mow of the year. Never bag after that.... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: Centipede seed - ronk on 6/29/22 at 11:01 pm Some truth to that. Centipede is trash grass but it’s great for people that don’t want to do anything because it really doesn’t want anything done to it.
Hybrid/improved Bermuda is my favorite but you’ll need full sun.
Zoysia depends on the variety but it can be a great grass.... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: 2022 Lawn thread - Post your pics, updates, questions, etc. - ronk on 6/29/22 at 10:55 pm Add 1/4 of peat moss and see if you can’t get it to bounce back... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Our Recruiting Is Terrible! - ronk on 6/29/22 at 10:52 pm Emotional, overreacting, no idea what you’re talking about, troll, never followed recruiting, you’re rip vanwinkle, etc. all of those things describe you. Wanna do a ban bet on where we finish... Posted on LSU Recruiting Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Centipede seed - ronk on 6/29/22 at 7:40 am You can try but it is awfully hot and awfully dry (I'm not in Louisiana but reading this board it seems to be drier than normal) to try to get seed to germinate. You are better off in the spring or fall.... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: 2022 Lawn thread - Post your pics, updates, questions, etc. - ronk on 6/29/22 at 7:35 am Could be a lot of things. It looks like St Aug. That spot looks low, does it hold water? Could be drought stress if no rain/irrigation. Could be chinch bugs. Doubt it is fungus doing that kind of work in the summer.... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (2) |
re: Thinning St. Augustine - ronk on 6/27/22 at 7:34 pm 2.5 inches isn’t scalping and that picture you posted isn’t drought stress. Looks like something else was going on... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: Talk to me about herbicide between applications of celsius - ronk on 6/27/22 at 6:27 pm I use msm from March-may, Celsius from June-September, and tripower from nufarm October-February. Tripower is mcpa, mcpp, and dicamba.... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (1) |
re: Does this live oak need any help? - ronk on 6/25/22 at 10:34 pm That’s pretty fricking unique. I’d honestly get a very reputable arborist out there. Not a worker bee, I’d ask for the owner.... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |

re: 2022 Lawn thread - Post your pics, updates, questions, etc. - ronk on 6/24/22 at 4:31 pm Without being on the lawn I'd say it is mowing. Only the tips of bermuda are green. How long was it between mows?... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: Carpet grass problem: Celsius beyond spot treating in high heat? - ronk on 6/24/22 at 2:37 pm You're fine however consider this: if you have big bare spots weeds will continue to be an issue. Sodding in the summer can be done but that depends on that amount of water you feel like paying for.... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
re: MSM Turf - ronk on 6/23/22 at 10:12 pm Don’t use 4x’s the rate. All herbicides are tested and labeled accordingly for a reason. ... Posted on Home & Garden Jump to Post - View Topic - Replies (0) |
