re: Fall food plot planting dates.

Yeah, some years we get burned by the food plot gods. We’ve planted between the October new moon and first quarter moon as long as I can recall regardless of weather. Supposedly this year is going to be a wetter, warmer fall/winter. We shall see.

Getting rid of it in a couple years, expert gardener kwik grass seed at Walmart and a bag of triple 13 fertilizer broadcasted on all bare dirt with a sprinkler about 20 minutes every night. Easy and cheap.

Fall food plot planting dates.

October 11-17 planting for the tallest grains and pray for rain too.
Brown leghorns. Too alert, too fast and camo to be snatched.
10” plum crazy colored plastic worm rigged Texas style or big chrome crankbait.

Spray yard with mavrik perimeter and set off a flea bomb in every room, 2 bombs in large rooms.
Seems like this past winter, someone was on here telling us about how he used orzo in lieu of rice. I’d eat it.

Just for shits and giggles, we hung them on a scale at camp, 2 weighed 42 pounds each and the other was 46 pounds, so we were off a little.

Greensburg, LA
Sunday morning trap run
Still hot and humid
3 baited traps
Ruger 10/22 with CCI mini mags

We got three dark red 50 pounders in the drop gate trap, not a thing in the figure nine traps. Gotta get these cleaned and on ice fast. I can taste the pork grillades already!

I hear ya! We’re mainly out here to eat and drink. The pig captures will be lagniappe.
I agree. Hopefully a present day Noah is working on another ark.

Sounds like some Catahoula baws.
Yes, radishes will grow in acidic soil but not sure how’d they do without touching bare soil. You could try broadcasting some cheap mustard seed in one corner and driving an atv over and over until the grass/weeds are matted over and broadcast some triple 13 fertilizer and check it in 2 weeks. If you have mustard sprouts coming through the grass mat, plant your tillage radish this fall the same way.

Some guy a fellow club member knows in Clinton said he’ll take anything we don’t want except old boars. We ain’t caught shite anyway, probably should have baited them last weekend so they’d get used to it. One trap had all corn eaten outside trap, so at least they know about it. We just left the bait inside, hoping a youngster will venture into it today/ tonight. White cans and pastalaya under the pine trees this afternoon anyhow.

Hot, muggy miserable weather
Hog traps baited with corn and velveeta cheese
Ruger 10/22 with CCI mini mags

At camp until Sunday afternoon trying to put a small dent in the feral pig epidemic. Baited up 2 figure nine traps and a drop gate trap last night. Working on a pot of coffee and a breakfast jambalaya right now then hoping to go earhole some captured pigs around 7am. Wish us luck!

Old Spice men’s body wash Fiji. Good stuff.
What in the hell is the world coming to?
Slice a zucchini and coat with your favorite hot sauce then dust em with it. Deep fry at 350F until golden brown then enjoy.
Option B: plant tillage radish in your plots this fall then plow in April and plant buckwheat and sunflowers. Next fall seed your preferred food plot seed and mow what’s standing to cover seeds and fertilize heavily. The biomass from decaying spring plantings will increase your ph naturally plus you’ll always have something growing for the deer.
