I've been to 2 Rouses in the Lafayette area, and neither had whole bellies, only frozen pre-cut slabs that looked like utter shite. Going to try one more time before the sale ends as I need to make some more bacon, but not holding my breath they'll have anything decent.

I have not. All of my JDM purchases have been straight through JDM sites, and not through a broker.

Unsure as to whether it's the same for Daiwa or not, but according to a Shimano rep on the Tackle Tour forums, Shimano will service reels bought from Japan if they're the same model as one available in the USDM market.
Agreed on JDM being the way to go though. I've bought from Digitaka, Japan Lure Shop, Asian Portal (before they jacked their prices up to around USDM prices) and Ichiban Tackle and had absolutely no issues with any of them.

Tranx. Chronarch MGL has known corrosion issues when used in saltwater environments.
If you're set on a Chronarch though, the Chronarch G is a saltwater safe version of the MGL, though seems to be discontinued.

I have the 6'10 medium/fast Atled and it's an awesome rod for trout, not so good for reds or my usual bycatch of big arse sailcats as it's far closer to a moderate action than fast and feels like a noodle woth anything other than trout. Have yet to have a trout pull the hooks while using it though.
