Quit complaining. In mother India, we face fierce Tigers. Black bears just want to eat white trash and berries.

saw one 2 weeks ago on the side of Hwy 90 in Berwick. I had one on the golf course in Kinder, La many years ago. it would trash the large steel trash cans at night. put a game camera up and it was a mom and baby black bear.

They’re everywhere in northeast Louisiana. Quite a bit down at the Atchafalaya River bottoms near Morgan city. I believe they’re known to be around the Mississippi River north of BR also.

The rotten corpse of one, does that count?

Although Teddy did make hunts here in LA, that particular episode played out in Mississippi.

Ive seen a few walking the levee near the old river spillway when it was flooded. We also have two or three that routinely cross our land in Rosedale

I was going to post this but decided to read some of the responses to see if it had been done yet.

Best thread ever.

As many as five in one afternoon on deer stand. We’re overrun with bears in Madison Parish.

That story comes from Mississippi.

Every black bear I've seen in the wild was in Florida. One between Tallahassee and Wakulla Springs running across a 2 lane, one running across Hwy 85 outside of Crestview, and one swam up from the Gulf and walked onto the beach in front of Silver Dunes in Destin.

Literally almost every time I go deer hunting. We have bearly (lol) 140 acres in NELA, and they're an absolute nuisance. Cannot apply for private land tag, our area is considered a "sanctuary area" because of how many are hit along I-20 in neighboring parishes.

I know quite a few folks in Bienville Parish that have seen them. I think the big population is around Black Lake and Black Lake Swamp, from Kepler Lake down towards Saline and then into Red River Parish towards Campti. There's a LOT of woods with not that many people that way. Nothing but little towns where we all used to play softball and baseball 40+ years ago.
