Looking around Greensboro, NC...
All the cameras are located on secondary side streets around town.
None on I40 or the other interstates in the area..
That makes no sense does it?

I'm surprised there are none reported anywhere around the Holly Ridge data center being built, the nearest being in Monroe. I figure that will change once it gets closer to being finished.

ok, but how often do you do that? And do you pay with cash for every transaction? Because I'm pretty sure they are using your electronic purchases to track you as well. I'm not defending the flock cameras, I'm simply implying that we are tracked, monitored, and surveilled constantly in more ways than we can even imagine. Yes, its uncomfortable. But most people- most- don't have anything to worry about. So I'm not going to get in a twist about flock cameras when my every living movement has an electronic footprint somewhere somehow if "they" want to track/follow me.

I don’t really have a problem with these, as they are the kind of cameras you see in the Lowe’s and wal mart parking light with the blue light flashing for security.
I am kind of surprised to find that the major concentrations of them seem to be in the relatively safe areas and not in the high-crime areas.
For instance Madison, MS has an abundance of cameras, while Jackson, MS has relatively few.

These don’t seem to be traffic cams….there are a shitload of those in my area and none of them are shown.

As I understand it, Flock will often “donate” the hardware because of the subscription revenue they’ll generate over the long term. On top of that, Flock has maintenance contracts for the hardware.
Basically their business model isn’t selling cameras; it’s selling subscriptions to access their cloud storage, AI tools, etc.

Flock cameras are instantaneous. The police can look at them anytime without having to go through cell carriers as they would for a phone. They can also use it to build probably cause.... as in "why were you in this area X amount of times?"
