Never understood the obsession with Idaho. 10-15 years ago it had a huge brain-drain problem with all of its college graduates leaving because job opportunities there were slim to nothing. Then all of a sudden in the last 2-3 years media articles started touting Idaho as this beautiful paradise to live and that more people should move there.

It has scenery which helps, but as far as job opportunities and healthcare it’s terrible.

The actual best are probably those in the 15-30 range.

You might just be wrong about that...

And I still don't think you can get liquor at SLC airport. And the tap beer is all some Utah local shite that is like 2.5% alcohol or something. Might otherwise be a great place to live but who wants to live in a place where you can't get smashed at the airport on your layover?

if you lived there, you'd never have a layover there.

Wrong on a couple of fronts. First, the near-beer thing no longer exists. Second, try White Horse at the SLC airport or any number of brew pubs if intent on getting hammered at the airport.

Only weird liquor law that exists today is that you can’t get a double when ordering a cocktail.

BUT, offsetting that negative is a huge positive in that every restaurant has to allow you to bring in your own bottle of wine (and most do not charge you a corkage fee).

Minnesota at #5?

Just moved here from Louisiana.

The state income tax sucks, but the overall competency and pride the people take in their local areas is a really nice change of pace.

Did the same in January and agree.

While I loathe the left and their agenda, it's not like you walk out your door everyday and are greeted with leftist bullshite.

What you do see is a clean city with active, prideful and well to do people. The economic environment is leaps and bounds ahead of LA as well.

I find posts like that funny b/c it's usually people who have never spent time in a place but hear about the politics on the internet and instantly think it sucks.

It's 2023 and the US News tagline intro for Alabama's entry (#44) is:

Noticed that too. What a lazy, biased bunch of journalists, but hey, if it keeps people from moving out of their liberal crime zones to Alabama, then I'm all for it.

First time??

Anyone with half a brain that travels outside of the Gulf South can realize this. I recently spent time in the Bay Area of CA and enjoyed it immensely. But if all you watch is Fox News/the OT, you would never realize how nice of an area it is. Like someone else said, its not like you walk out of your front door and are hit with liberal BS. But that's what the PFG/Aldean crowds here believe as gospel.

I live in SELA, and the only thing keeping me here is work and my aging parents. I am encouraging my kids to go off to college and never come back.

It is depressing to visit anywhere else in the country and then return home to our shithole state and do-nothing politicians.

I’m in southern Minnesota and can honestly say I’ve seen more conservative displays than liberal ones.

It gets rural/country out here quickly
