I'm no fan, but Arky ranked at 45 is a joke...

I wouldn’t call the dirty Roch deep red, but your point remains otherwise.

Am I supposed to want something besides unspoiled wilderness and a relative lack of people?

How can this be? They aren’t diverse enough.

My only complaint about MT (and ID, at least the parts I frequent) is that it's expensive as shite with no backing industry, the food is terribly bland, and winters do be getting a little too cold sometimes. Otherwise, I can't think of anything more reasonably suited to my taste.

Obviously I’m not saying that. My point is that Idaho is a tourist-driven state and doesn’t have much to offer besides that. And top it off, it’s more expensive to live in than the national average.

That's fair. I think if you can afford it, and you enjoy the kinds of things that the area provides in spades (ie year-round outdoor pursuits in a gorgeous setting), it's worth it. Otherwise, you'll be poor, miserable, or both.

Obama dumping a bunch of Somalian refugees there certainly didn't help.

The problem with Washington is not the outdoors or the seasons, but the people that live there.

The people I interacted with were generally friendly and pleasant.

I was not bombarded with leftist propaganda and shite lmao.

Hell my friends that live there are just as conservative as this board and they have made a nice life for themselves.

Get out of the big metros and the state is as red as Alabama. I saw Trump 2024 merch being sold at a gas station and a big "frick BIDEN" flag lmao.

Kentucky coming in at #39. Not bad. We're slowly but surely improving.

And I still don't think you can get liquor at SLC airport. And the tap beer is all some Utah local shite that is like 2.5% alcohol or something. Might otherwise be a great place to live but who wants to live in a place where you can't get smashed at the airport on your layover?

I gave Salt Lake City a look before deciding on Boise. Utah is too Mormon for me.

Utah lacks culture. Nothing but milky Melba toast. Do they have etouffe, crayfish, and marching parades? I think not. Yawn-boring {Sarcasam}

I see opportunity, maybe open a restaurant with those cultural food items in Utah. No competition and I bet they’d love it

I feel like the restaurant scene in Boise is great, the downtown is very walkable, it has two college campuses and airport.

but the overall competency and pride the people take in their local areas is a really nice change of pace.

I bet you can leave your keys in your truck with it running and wallet on the console while you walk into a convenience store to piss, and it will be there when you walk out
