Definitely get a car in Naxos, it is a big island and if you are in Chora you will need to drive to the beach.

We stayed at an AirBnB in Stelida- it is near Chora, but also near the beaches. About a 10 min drive to each. We would drive to Plaka beach, have breakfast at a beachside cafe, rent a chair on the beach for the rest of the day then head home to clean up and have dinner in town. It was heaven.

I recommend To Elliniko as well. My wife and I spent a few hours there one night having a great time with the staff. Our waitress was great and we struck up conversation, and the night ended with us in the kitchen with the owner and me wearing a staff T shirt.
I've tried a couple of times to get into this guy, but for some reason I just can't

And the amount of dick sucking for him on this board is an even bigger turnoff

That is fine for middle school XC training, but that is not a track season workout, in any way, especially for an 800/1600

This is what I was thinking.

I have an 8th grade daughter than runs XC and track as well. This is her first year doing both, so we are kind of in the same boat.

Her XC coach is also the distance coach for track, but the workouts have varied greatly between the sports.

Her XC workout is similar to what you posted-
Monday - Long Run
Tuesdsay - Speed/Interval
Wednesday - Tempo
Thursday - Easy/Recovery Run
Friday - short shakeout/stretching
Saturday - Meet Day

She runs the 1600/3200 for track, and their practices are a lot more interval focused. She has run the 800 a few times, and it is her slowest event. She wants to improve, but she really loves the longer distances.

She has said that she enjoys XC more than track. Different scenery, not confined to a lane, the laps get boring, especially on the 3200. She has learned a lot this season just how to run on a track with other runners. Her times are pretty good, but honestly I'm looking at this year as a learning year, trying to keep her interested. This summer will start some weight training and see if she wants to get serious about it.

Lots of good suggestions here already.

I'll add:

I'm conflicted on seeing a show at the Sphere.

I love concerts, and I usually sit as close as I can to the artist. Something about being in the first few rows makes it more "personal" than sitting in the rafters watching the video screen.

But from what I see about the Sphere, the best places to sit are farther away so you can soak in the total experience. I'm worried I would enjoy the "movie" but not feel like I saw the "band."

Not sure if that makes any sense- maybe I just need to go see a show there and find out.

We used AirBnB for our lodging, and the host arranged a car to pick us up. This was in 2023 but I still have the driver's number in my phone. We used him a few more times during our stay.

Might be worth a shot to see if he's still active. He was pretty responsive to texts if I remember correctly

This is your false equivalency

These are kids. You suck it up and realize its not about you all the time.

It is different for adults, you have a say in your career and when/where you want to work. For these kids you keep mentioning, the parents should have taken that into account when they chose to live where they live.

exactly so why are you trying to control other families and tell them what is best for them and their kid

This is what I have a problem with. I'm not trying to control anyone, I just want everyone to play by the rules.

If you choose to go to public school, then live somewhere you want your kids to go. Don't live in one area then try to put them in school somewhere else because sports. This culture of "my kid and his highschool athletic career are the most important thing" is insane.

Previously you say to poor performing schools. "Do better." That sounds great and all but what can a parent do to make a public school better in the limited window his kids will be there. The parents should have made the decision to live in the district they wanted their kids to go to. And if they can't do that, then too bad. The kid should stay and play in his district.

We have already seen what free transfers have done to college sports, and it will trickle down to highschool. This culture of doing whatever you can for your kids to maximize highschool playing time is ridiculous. You are teaching your kids horrible values and priorities.

What would you recommend doing to maximize our time there?

Not sure if you want to do the Parthenon, but if you want to fit it in I would recommend doing it first thing in the morning or later in the evening for lower crowds. This time of year shouldn't be too crowded but you never know.

Have lunch at a rooftop overlooking Monistraki Square. It is always bustling and great people watching. I just looked up the restaurant we ate at, and it looks like it has closed and something else moved in. I would imagine that most restaurants in that area are similar.

My earlier post recomended the old Tavern of Psarras. Not only was it great food, but that area of Plaka is awesome, especially in the evenings. Around the corner from there is Brettos Bar. It is a small joint but really cool bar. We had a good breakfast at Tazzos, it has the bougainvillea draping down over the patio.

For just a day or so in town, I would just walk around the neighborhoods at the foot of the Acropolis. Plaka is the most famous as well as Anafiotika. Grab a coffee at a patio table and people watch. Just outside of town is Lycabettus Hill. You can take a cable car to the top and have great views of the city. You actually look down on the Acropolis area.

If you want to visit ruins, there is obviously the Parthenon. The new museum at the base of the hill is amazing. The Temple of Hephaestus is very cool, it is one of the most well preserved ruins in the ancient world. The Roman Agora and Gate of Athena is also near there, all close to Monistiraki Square

so say you live in Kenner but work in Chalmette and want your kid to go to Chalmette high....you file out of zone and its granted....he is full eligible. Then going into his junior year...you get a huge promotion at work and can afford for him to go to Jesuit and they accept him. He transfers and is eligible immediately.

You give these pie in the sky examples but that probably represents less than 5% of actual situations.

It opens the door for nefarious recruiting situations for coaches/parents/kids to do shady shite.

It is fricking highschool sports, not professional. Whatever happened to playing for your school with your friends. figs like you who live their life through youth sports are the problem.

Research
My wife and I went to Greece a few years ago. We ate at the Athens Gate Rooftop. Great views but it will be pretty warm outside in September. We went in early June and I remember us moving inside because it was too hot on the terrace. The food and ambiance were great.
Another great meal we had was at Kozmikon in Athens. We saw it one day on a walk and it looked cool so we booked a reservation that night. It’s on a lovely corner and we sat outside under the trees and had a wonderful meal.
Try to visit the Plaka neighborhood in Athens. We ate at the Taberna Psaras and it was great as well. The area it is in has narrow streets and stairs and people sit on the stairs to eat. Great way to people watch and soak in the atmosphere.
Greece/Athens is awesome. Enjoy!
