I had a police officer pick up my 9 year old, put him in the back of a police car, bring him back to my house, and tell my wife she was getting arrested if we let him wander off again. His crime? We let him walk a half mile from our house to cut down bamboo for a fort he was building
At that age we used to ride our bikes 3 miles to the little convenience store and community pool in our town. 2 lane country roads and 3-4 kids on bikes, no cell phones even existed for a kid back then, took a couple bucks for a hot dog and coke at the little store and had a charge account at the swim club for snacks/ice cream. The 80’s and 90’s were the peak time for kids.
Today’s world is a shite show of stupidity including the dyke cops who think they rule the world.

This is good. Odds are the kid doesn’t have insurance.

Nothing I hate more than the police state we’ve created……. Except maybe these stupid e-bikes and parents that let their kids play Evil Kneivel on them.

So, he was breaking the law and now has to face the consequences and that’s not the America you want?

Who wants to bet he was hauling arse on his e-bike and thats why he got pulled over? Or rode it somewhere bikes are prohibited?
well hold on, professor. Even when we were kids, there were thing you couldn't do. Freedom requires that you discipline yourself. IF he was riding his ebike somewhere he shouldn't have been or speeding on it, that aint "destroying his freedom".

This is so stupid... we are destroying childhood freedom for kids and no one seems to care.

Same.....everyday after school we were on our bikes hitting the local snowball stands, drug stores, pizza places, arcades, BMX tracks etc.. but we were on bicycles. These particular E-bikes aren't bicycles. The one this kid was riding is dirt bike with an electric motor. Arguably more dangerous than a gas powered one since you can at least hear those coming. Ive had two friends children seriously injured on them this past summer. They are relatively cheap so a lot of folks can afford them and think they are giving little Jimmy a fun toy. They aren't toys.
Would I have given an other wise good kid a warning and let his parents know the safety issues instead of what this cop did..Yes.

300 feet, kid should have walked
There was no befriending. He put my son in the back of a squad car like he was some criminal.

11 yr old ticketed & sent to court for riding dirt bike 300 ft to go fishing in Florida
Good. There needs to be an immediate crackdown on these kids riding bikes at 30-40mph on city streets and sidewalks. Parents who let their kids do this are fricking retarded.

“Son, what is your parents names and number?”
“Yes hi this is the police, can you bring your son fishing in a legal manner”
“You can go fishing and go back home today but next time make sure your parents bring you”
That’s all that needed to happen, if that.
What about the kid WALKING the 300 ft. to go fishing? That's less than the entire length of a football field for Christ's sake.

And if you were caught doing them, you weren’t finger printed and ushered through the formal justice system.
It’s really not that complicated

Wow 300’ I remember we used to easily walk that far to go to a friends house, go fishing, go to school, any number of things…

riding his dirt bike to go FISHING 300 FEET FROM HIS OWN HOUSE...
That's walking distance. And a unlicensed kid riding a motorcycle on the streets is a hazard. Electric bikes, scooters and motorcycles are out of control. That shite needs to be reined in somehow.

The guys who are mad at this are probably the same ones who think teachers banging underage male students are awesome, because they have the maturity and critical thinking skills of an 11 year old.

electric dirt bikes are out of control in Florida. Kids going to hospital all the time
My 13yo conned my mom in to getting him one (claimed he just wanted a regular e-bike but talked her in to this) and its wasnt 2 weeks before he put it on the ground and had to get 8 stitches in the bottom of his foot. Now we have an electric dirt bike just sitting in my shed

I was a kid in the late 50's and into the 60's and it was nothing for me and my cousins to wind up miles from our houses on an almost daily basis, and do so most of the time on foot. If on our bicycles, it could be multiple miles from home.
Kids today don't know what that freedom is like for the most part-------and don't seem to want it anyway.

Was he riding on the road or not?

Women should not be cops. Hopefully the judge throws this out.
Some women probably do ok but I've seen a lot of cop videos where the female cop is unbelievably incompetent, so she possibly went hard on this 11 year old because that is about the level of perp she can handle by herself.
The fingerprinting is complete bullshite.
One video I saw, a meth'ed out idiot was being chased by police on foot through a park. Female cop got ahead of him in her car. Perp ran 50 yards towards her in the open all the while she was just pleading with him to stop. He engaged in a struggle with her and took her gun away from her which was still holstered. Then she had to beg him not to kill her, which he didn't, he just ran off with her gun.
More vidoes like that than I can count.

Agree. He should have been on that bike nor in the street.
