Remember last year when the geniuses were claiming that the oceans were boiling? They have their proof now! The water is turning to steam!

For anyone who wants to see how those yearly changes add up after a century:

Can’t we now have our attack subs sink the Chinese fishing fleet raping the gulf?
And again, as far as China is concerned, it's still called the Gulf of Mexico. Or however that's pronounced in mandarin.

I wonder if that was the only name it ever had in all of history. If any natives thought it should be named anything else. Hmmmm
Before 1895, Mount McKinley was known by its indigenous Athabaskan name, Denali, which means "the high one" or "the great one" in the local Koyukon language. The mountain, located in Alaska, had been called Denali by the native peoples for centuries before it was renamed Mount McKinley in 1896 by a gold prospector, William Dickey, in honor of President William McKinley. The name Denali was officially restored in 2015 by the U.S. government, reflecting a return to its original indigenous designation. So, prior to 1895, it was simply Denali.

The issue is the name is not “changed” for the rest of the world, just american media and companies. Do we honestly think the rest of the world will follow suit?

What was the goal of naming Mount McKinley to Denali

Is it just national pride, or some further goal like bypassing anti-drilling laws/regs regarding the "Gulf of Mexico?"

Except for people with young kids who love to talk about their kids sports. Only office talk worse than co-workers kids sports is fantasy football talk.

quote:We're fricking exhausted and don't have the time or bandwidth for random people's business. Most of us have very young kids and just want to enjoy silence for a few minutes.
I can’t understand the younger generation’s absolute fear of having an in person conversation.
Plus anyone over 50 will gladly turn small talk into a 30+ minute hostage situation.

I doubt they'll be able to get in free, but you can always get the cheapest ticket available from the box office (avoid fees) and they can just sit with y'all.

State sanctioned executions is a slippery slope. Yes he might've deserved this but is death a truly worse punishment from a life behind bars? Does his death justify the government wrongfully executing others? This is regression not to be celebrated.

Hot take: there's not really anything wrong with the way we've been doing it.
I'd prefer DST since we have more sunlight in the evening after work/school. I can see how permanent DST wouldn't be great for kids waiting in the dark for the bus in the winter. One or the other would cause its own problems, just leave it as is.

But I thought they were "waste" who are nothing but a drain on their employers? Why should we be celebrating them tainting the private sector with their ineptitude?
