If tweet fails to load, click here. As predicted, SEC, yet again, caves on their threats.
SEC has proven they have seriously overplayed their hand here and LSU has called them out on every stop and has the receipts, the backing, and much better lawyers. SEC, like the NCAA, does not have a plan. They are reactionary and choosing the worst possible decision at each outcome.
All of the barking from the SEC officials is only to try and save face, despite them getting embarrassed each time on the national stage.
ETA: FWIW, the comments from some of these "officials" seems almost targetted at td.com posts. They are idiotic and made for quick wins rather than being substantive or impactful.

My guess is that enough university presidents got Sank on the horn and told him he's making the entire conference look unbelievably stupid. I expect everything to ramp down immediately.
But there is damage done. I think Sankey is gonna still be thrown under the bus. A conference can't do provocative shite like this with no recourse.
There's a lot of hurt feelings here and I'm still not sure we can get back to "normal".

No penalties
No punishment
One strongly worded email/press release/statement

6 game suspension for Lane. $20 million fine to be paid to Ole Miss and Bama’s NIL fund. 195 angry cajuns arrested in Birmingham for a variety of crimes committed in bringing Sankey to justice.
Just kidding. No punishment and an epic meltdown from ole miss fans.

Time has not been publicly announced. According to ChatGPT:
The SEC's presidents and chancellors are still scheduled to meet today, but the proposed vote to expel LSU is reportedly no longer on the agenda. Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports reported Wednesday evening that the SEC had communicated to LSU and other members that LSU's expulsion would no longer be considered at Thursday's meeting.
That follows LSU President Wade Rousse's Wednesday letter to Commissioner Greg Sankey. Rousse said LSU's 105-man roster was finalized without Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris, the two former NFL players at the center of the dispute, and stated that LSU had complied with SEC rules and that the issue was "moot." He also expressly said LSU would not challenge, disrupt, cancel or postpone today's meeting.
What time is the meeting?
I cannot find a reliable public source giving an exact start time. The SEC has described it as a special meeting of its presidents and chancellors/Chief Executive Committee, but the publicly reported notices I've found don't specify a start time.

Ha....that's funny.
I say there will be a punishment of some kind. Based on the institutional control issue and remarks from Lane. It is broad enough of rule, no need for evidence, and levy a fine and possible game suspension.
Maybe this weeks game against LATech to actually look like they brought the hammer and won, but yet it doesn't really have an impact on LSU's season.

According to Jacques Doucet on his show, the call is later this afternoon.

i feel like the SEC has to try to issue some penalties. They've gone too deep to just let us off the hook (in their minds).

Probably worst case is a $50k fine from Kiffin, and a $50k fine from LSU.
But the fine would have to be for something.
What will be the infraction they state warrants the fine? Saying words?

LSU takes a victory lap - shows up to the meeting with Lane and Wade in NFLSU / NBA jerseys.
SEC overreacts and EXPELS LSU!
The Old War Skule declares war.
LSU ROTC level's SEC headquarters in B'ham with artillery.
SEC presidents who voted for expulsion have their homes destroyed by LSU ROTC's FPV drones.
Cajun Navy blows up their vacation homes and their boats.
Louisiana secedes from the Union.

Penalizing LSU for not rostering a “pro” player while doing absolutely zero to Alabama for actually playing one would be peak SEC.
Can’t leave this conference fast enough for my liking.

I'm going with 3 years probation and a low 7-figure fine. Say 1.5M or 2M
