Comes with being an athlete. I had ACL repair surgery at 17. Don’t be soft

But little Jaxton's fastball is now ++

I got a Dr to give my Braxton the TJ surgery in the 9th grade before his arm ever started hurting. It added 3 mph to his fastball and now the big D1 programs scouting him don't have to worry about his elbow blowing out.
Expecting multiple offers by this time next year.

Thats because Connyr will never be able to throw mid 90's without this surgery.

Son brought home two baseball hats for his school’s team today…and wow, how did that sport go flat bill? **old man yells at clouds**

The other 43% are 13-14 yr olds.

Makes sense. Honest question: Who else would need it? The .000001% of the population who are major league pitchers?
Pitchers are the only ones who get it and there's way more in the 15-19 yr old age group than any other age group.

Where's the guy from Lake Charles who will tell us how awesome travel ball is, how all the coaches always do the right thing by the kids, and how we just need to get kids to lift earlier in order to avoid this?

Better than Elton John surgery.

Fair. It’s like saying that a huge percentage of female acl repairs are girls 15-25. Well yeah, because that’s when they are most active.

My son does not do travel, and it's all on me. I spelled his name Jackson instead of Jaxson, and the coach told us we were out of luck. Heading back to Dick's tonight to return the $400 composite two part bat. It's all Easton aluminum from here on out for us.

Travel ball has little if anything to do with the increase in Tommy John surgery. If this were the case, you would see a significantly larger portion of US players getting TJ vs. players from the DR and other latin american countries. That's not the case.
The increasing prevalence in TJ surgery is due to two things in my opinion: (1) the surgery and (more importantly) the recovery is being perfected and much less risky than it was previously, so the risk is not nearly as high that something will go wrong, (2) the emphasis on velocity and spin rates are just not compatible with biometrics. This is not really a symptom of travel ball as much as it is a symptom of technological advances at the MLB and college level that have trickled down into youth baseball that have pushed athletes beyond physical limitations.

And I got it at 22.

Brixstunn Stone isn't going to make national all stars without throwing his curveball. God Gave him two arms in case 1 blows out. It's a risk I'm willing to take to unlock his greatness.
