Survival of the fittest was the name of the game for Florida vs. North Carolina State.

The Gators' season remains alive as they beat the Wolfpack, 5-4, Monday afternoon in an elimination game at the College World Series.

NC State took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on an RBI single from Brandon Butterworth.

However, Florida responded with a four-run second inning to take control and never trailed again.

In the top of the second inning, Jac Caglianone stepped to the plate in the top of the second with the score 1-1 and two out. He pounded an 0-1 pitch from Wolfpack left-hander Dominic Fritton 404 feet into the right-field seats for a three-run homer. Caglianone's line-drive shot had a 116-mph exit velocity and put the Gators in front after NC State scored a run in the first inning.
