Boomers didn't become the majority in Congress until the early 2000's, all the shite entitlement programs from the federal government and the unsustainable trajectory for US debt were already in place. Boomers will be a minority in Congress
In 2008, when Boomers became the majority in the Senate, the national debt was approximately $10 trillion. Today, it's roughly $40 trillion. That's a $30 trillion increase, or about 300%, in just 18 years. That's a pretty staggering.

Under the boomers we've seen the greatest transfer of wealth in history from the middle class. They've increased the debt massively while in power passing that bill along to next generation.
On top of that they are known as the most selfish generation in regards to passing money to their kids.
Just don't expect to see a penny of that "tax". If you're expecting the government to level the playing field, you're ignoring what both so called conservatives and liberals alike have been doing with the nation's finances for much of the last century.

Camel's nose under the tent scenario.
If you let that camel stick his nose under the tent soon that peckerwood will be in tent with you.
You tax the wealthy, who decides what wealthy is? Only billionaires ? Next year it will be millionaires also. How about the next year and the next? Now they are taxing the folks who have a basic fast food job into oblivion.
I too started at $0.00 when I was 18. My parents gave me $200 when I went to college. I never moved back home and worked my way through college. I worked hard and I got motivated and smart.
There are some who never learned History. My grandparents lived during the Great Depression in Louisiana. I learned a lot from them. You would be wise to learn from these so called "boomers'.
Go to work.

This false promise of oh if we just tax them hard it will solve our generations problems
We can then get free healthcare and lower cost of living and cheap houses
That’s all we gotta do is tax the boomers
But that isn’t gonna fix anything

So pass it through the government so they can waste at least half of it before it gets to their kids.
They just need to marry a Somalian and open a daycare/grocery store/home health combo shop.

I'm a boomer. And I am appalled at the growth of the National Debt. How can you spend that much more money than you take in in taxes. And I'm retired so I can understand why the youth are disgusted with this.
It's going to be 42.5 to 43 trillion by the end of 2027. Nobody in either party has called to solve this problem. But maybe the democrats will try to do something about it. If they take half the wealth of the boomer generation they can erase the debt.
I think that's what they want to do with our money.

I don't know about y'all but nothing makes me want to bust my arse to build wealth more than wealth confiscation by the government.

I think OP never realized "boomers'" kids are no longer kids. Hell, they most likely are middle-aged now with grandchildren
But thinking is not something manchildren do while having a fit because mommy and daddy didnt give them a better allowance

Was talking to my buddy who said over the next two year to take the money out and spend the shite out of it. By the time AOC becomes president we will be impoverished and homeless and living on the government tit.

And if you really want more of something, subsidize it.

If you did a "boomer" search on this board you would probably come up with 30 or more threads. Do we really need to debate it again? If a boomer wants to bury his money with him, that's his right. If he wants to distribute evenly amongst his surviving family, that too is his right.
Talk to your cheap arse boomer parent and leave it at that. It's just too easy. I would imagine your boomer parent can't stand to be around you is the reason you are not in the will.

If the libs pass a massive estate tax, I'll play that game. Bookers and blow in the retirement home.
No way in hell I'm giving around 80% of my assets to the government when I die.
