being dark when I get home from work, sucks arse with 2 little boys.

Because it getting dark at 615 instead of 515 is critical outside time in the middle of winter

For most people, it is 9 to 5 for five days a week. But you knew that. 8 to 6 on a 4 day schedule.

The initial post in this conversation from the other poster referred to people who work outside.

No, most outside jobs are not 9 to 5.

I agree. It's fine as it is. Changing it would bring sunrise at round 8am, which is far too late.

And that's why it should remain standard time year round. Without DST it still doesn't get dark in the middle of the summer until 8:30 PM.

frick that! I live at 47 degrees north. Sunlight before 5 am sucks! The real answer to solve north- south sunlight issues are barber pole striped time zones angled NW to SE.

Lol move to Anchorage or further north, its even better

Hardest thing to adjust to was going to drink at the bars around 8pm in the summertime, staying till closing at 2am and wondering why it looked like no time had passed based on the light and the sky.

I guess I’m the only one that likes it getting dark at 5:30 in the winter? Makes me think of the holidays plus I love those 230 SEC games being in the dark for the second half.

I don't think that the Senate will pass this because they will figure out that, once we have Permanent DST, people will be fed up with it and hate it after a few years of spending much of the early day in the pre-dawn twilight.

Sunrise where I live ST vs. DST, June 23:

ST: 4:16 AM
DST: 5:16 AM

Either make DST standard, or barber pole striped time zones!

It doesn’t create extra light…. Why do people say this…?

The better question is why do you not understand what people mean when they say this?

I love standard time. It’s natural. Daylight savings is artificial and bad for you.

And some of us who work out in the mornings appreciate early light.

Why would the Senate bollix it if the House approved it by a 3:1 margin?

You might be.

I think of the holidays with music and Christmas lights.

It has nothing to do with coming home from work in the dark.
Or setting up a campsite in the dark.
Or watching my kids do sports in the dark.

It's a bit more complicated than changing time on some clocks.

I hate this. Don’t care who gets mad at that. I’d rather standard time year round. I consider people who get upset at standard time to be weak minded bitch karens.

Which window do you prefer sunlight?

4 AM to 5 AM
9 PM to 10 PM

That’s the difference between ST and DST for me. Summertime DST is essential at northern latitudes! Sorry to repeat myself but if we choose one, it is either DST or redraw the time zones into angled stripes.

If I had a choice of driving to work in the dark or go home in the dark, I would rather go to work in the dark.

Every morning sucks anyway and so let's get it out of the way.

It’s really not. And changing it to DST doesn’t fix anything, it just shifts the time of day and year that everyone will bitch.

But now it’s trendy to pretend it’s some huge imposition on the internet so here we are.
