Changing from one zone to another isn't rocket science and to pretend that it is ignores the current realities of society.

I don't think it's rocket science, just an unnecessary PITA. I don't personally want to think about time on top of everything else going on in life.

Right now, it's not a big deal because there isn't much variability (only a few time zones).
That changes rapidly when every state takes their own stance. I agree this should be a federal level policy

States have their own stance now.
Tennessee has 2 time zones.
Alaska has 3.

Phones literally do the work for you.
Or you can be retarded and never look at your phone and complain that it is too complicated.

If I had a choice of driving to work in the dark or go home in the dark, I would rather go to work in the dark.

Every morning sucks anyway and so let's get it out of the way.

That is where I sit.

I go to work in the dark in December regardless of the choice.
It sure would be nice to have some daylight when the day is done.

You're relying on your phone a lot brother.

It's a lot easier to keep track of 3-4 things vs. 50. And it's a lot easier to program a system (your phone) for 4 things vs. 50 as well

People will bitch regardless.

Now once that extra hour of sunlight that hits them in the face when they drive off to go home, they will stop bitching.

No, they’ll just bitch that it’s dark by 6:15 because they’re too stupid to realize that changing the oven clock isn’t why it gets dark earlier in December.

That’s when they pretend that they have all this work that needs doing between 5:00-7:00 pm in the winter. Everyone here has a homestead and a herd of cattle.

I dont wear a watch.

The phone gets the time right even when I travel.

Ease, speed, and knowledge.

A lot of construction workers that I've known through the years like the early start and early off. Pretty common for construction workers to begin work at 7AM and they're off by 3:30-4PM.

Then they can just work 8AM - 4:30/5PM and it is the exact same thing. If your job is dependent on the sun, then those jobs should just shift hours in the winter to be aligned with the sun. Sounds like an easy solution to me.

I can see they’re focused on working out the tough issues.

Or, we could just move the clocks twice a year.

My vote would be for standard time year round.

If we have to pick one (we don’t—can’t stress that enough or that we did this already and everyone unanimously hated it) it should be standard time.

It is funny to see the people prefer standard time when they only get 15 weeks a year, currently.

Standard has gone from 12 months to 6 months to 16 weeks to 15 weeks. And congress is getting close to allowing states to eliminate it altogether.
Georgia already passed the law for full time daylight savings. We and 18 other states) are just waiting on congress.

I prefer how we do it. I choose CST over CDT if I have to pick though, mostly because we went to permanent DST once before and EVERYONE hated it the first winter.

If the law passes, every state can do what they want. Follow the national time change. Opt out completely like a few states do. Or opt in to daylight savings completely like 19 states are prepared to do.

Federalism.
It is the American way when 380M people can't agree.

I’m a staunch federalist.

Agreeing on which time we use doesn’t need to be handled 50+ different ways. Especially when this is basically an internet fad.

Arizona and Hawaii opt out of DST, I believe. Are there others?

I dont know.

But the exact point is that I dont sweat them and neither should you.

Some states have 2 and 3 timezones.
Some cities have 2.

They all seem to get by even though your mind is exploding by the concepts.

In the middle of the winter it will be dark until damn near 9AM if DST is made permanent.
Soon, though, for a small fee and geographic coordinates, you can get a worksite to have 24 hour daylight.
