That's a shame. He used to give me free tickets.

Yes and I went to the games last year and couldn't find him.

Hognoxious could not longer afford it.

And yet Alabama despite that has accomplished a lot more.

Saban could have returned to Baton Rouge after Miles was fired.

Why did he stay?

Alabama is still the better job.
Florida jumped on Arkansas early with a 17-0 lead. Arkansas got the lead at 21-17, they forced Florida to punt and we all know what happened next.

If Arkansas by a miracle won the SEC and faced Ohio State then they would lose another close game.

Ohio State would have the same strategy when facing Arkansas. Load up the box and slow the running game down and force them into third and long situations.

If Arkansas had beaten both LSU and Florida then I don't see why.

McFadden would have won his heisman.
Nutt didn't care as long as he won his typical seven games a year and still kept his job. That is all that he cared about.
The FOIA revealed an affair which embarrassed the University of Arkansas. Petrino had an affair but wasn't smart about it and didn't hid unlike Nutt. Nutt didn't break any laws like Petrino that we know of but then again we are talking about a dishonest person here.

Also the harassing email to Mustain that was forwarded among friends and also a story of a code red was given to a group of defensive players that surrounded Mustain in a locker room.
If you only you knew what happened off the field during that season then you would understand.
Nutt wanted Malzahn gone. He didn't want to hire him and it was forced on him by a wealthy BOT member.

Arkansas before the season began didn't have a QB. Casey Dick was recovering from a back injury. Highly rated recruit Mitch Mustain wanted to redshirt but was told no. So all that was left was Robert Johnson.

In the first game against USC at home, Arkansas was getting destroyed and Robert Johnson was awful.

So Mustain entered the game and scored the last touchdown to make it 51-14.

Mustain struggled but went 8-0 as the starter.

That changed when Casey Dick recovered and when Mustain threw a pick on the first possession against South Carolina, he was pulled out and Casey Dick took over. That was the last time Mustain started for Arkansas.

Nutt wanted Mustain gone as well. He was paranoid that Malzahn was going to take his job. Casey Dick was his QB and didn't want Malzahn to take any credit through Mustain.

The Nutt and Malzahn thing would have never worked. Both were POS and villains in Arkansas football lore.
That was 2002.

Arkansas went to Atlanta and lost to a terrible SMU team in the 95 regular season.

The SEC was very weak that year.

Arkansas was very close of finding themselves in the BCS title game against Ohio State.
You have to remember the Nutt teams rarely won the big games.

I believe it is a testament to how good that Arkansas team was and won 10 games without a passing game. Then you add the Nutt/Malzahn drama that was nothing but a distraction. It's insane they won any game.

Just a week before, Casey Dick had the worst stats of an Arkansas QB in history and still had a chance in the end. They weren't going to win a game from that point on with a passing game that was awful.
Yes with no permanent starter at QB and a hurt McFadden that was limping in the game.

That season was nothing but frustrating.
