I have enjoyed watching him dominate. The kid can flat out move in the water.

IMO, Dressel has the greatest start and turns in swimming history. He puts a body length on other swimmers with underwater dolphin kick

I don’t think any of them do, male or female, in the 50m

How Dressel isn't at least 80% as famous as Phelps is kind of beyond me.

All American, extremely handsome dude, seems to have a a fun personality and seems to do nothing bit win a shite load of gold medala.

Your watching his fame grow right now! He will become a household name as he continues to stack hardware.

re: Caleb Dressel
Think it’s more the situation around the games as opposed to Dressel. Postponed, no fans, etc.

Right on.
Let’s not get caught up in latest and greatest mentality.
Go back and remember what Phelps did for a very long time.
But I’m with everyone. Love Dressel.

Isn’t this Dressel’s first Olympics? If he’s back and dominant in 2024 he will be a huge American name.

He won gold in the 4X100m freestyle and the 4X100m medley in Rio 2016

His start was amazing, but he set the world record with the worst turn and finish I’ve ever seen in a gold medal swim. That was insane.

re: Caleb Dressel
Right Dressel matured later than Phelps.

Phelps was the youngest male American Olympic swimmer ever at 15. At 19 he won 6 golds.

Dressel was a supporting player at 19 on championship relay teams with no individual golds. He really turned it on in 2017 and by 2019 was the best swimmer in the world. He’s going to have his first Phelps-like medal haul at 24 (two weeks from 25), which would have been 23 (almost 24) if not for Covid. He’s basically a full Olympics cycle behind him.

And if he keeps it up he will be the second best male swimmer of all time in Paris.

13 individual golds to "only" 2... but also 2 individual silvers and one individual bronze to dressel's 0. Hope this helps. Relay king ain't what makes you famous. I have a buddy who won 3 relay golds in 84, plus an individual silver... nobody would recognize his name.

shite... his kid swam h.s. and college with dressel and even caleb might not know dude's a triple gold winner.

re: Caleb Dressel
He’s favored for a third individual tonight though. But just to put in context how amazing Phelps was, he had 4 performances that were on par or better than what Dressel has done now. I see no reason why he wouldn’t be as good in Paris, and that would put him past Spitz and Lochte, but it’s really incredible what Phelps did.

Spitz won 100 and 200 free and 1 and 2 butterfly, something even Phelps couldn't do. I find that feat much more impressive than winning the 50 and 100 free/fly like dressel. I certainly am not knocking dressel, his olympic career just isn't what Phelps/Spitz did. I don't think any swimmers have appeared in a car commercial before winning their first individual medal, except caleb. I remember the hype after 2019 worlds, retards like Rowdy saying he could win 8 gold medals in a single Olympics.
