So many better events than that shite. It’s like the basketball players that suck and can’t make the team event but we will enter you in the 3x3!
Tried to watch a snippet.....IOC is just in the expanse, behemoth mindset and to add "cool" sports.
What's cool about this? You get a gold medal for playing basically a pick-up game at the Rec with your fraternity bros?
There were 163 events at the 1964 Olympics, 60 years later, there is 329.

Agreed. He's so bad on defense, I think that I could take him to the hoop, and I'm over 60.

I believe we haven't seen the worst yet. We've still got "Breaking" left. I mean come on people... they got rid of baseball and softball so they could add "real sports" like 3x3, BMX, Skating, and Breaking!

Skating
It’s them trying to do one trick which takes about 10 sec and then they stand around for a minute or two and someone else goes.
And even when they landed their trick it just didn’t look impressive. I understand it is probably incredibly difficult, but it just doesnt make for an interesting spectator sport. If they would have vert instead of street or park it would at least be more entertaining.

I think the mistake that they made was thinking BMX and Skateboarding would be good because it came from the same X-games world as half pipe and moguls. Watching the summer version is like watching a game of curling.
Now playing Devils advocate a bit... All 4 of the sports I mentioned have an extremely low economic barrier of entry. If a country can save their resources for competitions with virtually no training costs, more people/countries will be able to go. I think this was a big part of their "first equitable games" that they boasted last Friday. These sports in the US get the "leftover" kids after organized sports take their pools. Would any 3x3 team be able to beat a US 3x3 Team of four D-leaguers? Doubtful.

This is terrible. We are terrible. Could we not find 3-5 bored NBA stars who didn't make the main squad?

The commentators mentioned that it can't happen because they select by points gained and supposedly those can only be accrued by regular participation in 3x3.
I think if we were to miss out on the knockout round it would be changed like USA basketball after '88. If Algeria can send a guy to beat up females, we sure as hell can send some ringers. (Clark/Reese for women would be must see.)

Van Lith is worse on this 3 on 3 team than she was for LSU and that’s saying something.

I read earlier today that those on the 3x3 team have to travel around a circuit for a long period playing 3 on 3 in order to qualify for the Olympics. That’s why you don’t see any NBA guys or anything because no one wants to dedicate the time to qualify.

Holy shite, just watched some of it. The Women’s was utterly embarrassing and the men’s wasn’t much better.

3x3 should be removed
nah, but it should be altered... the game clock needs to be removed, and after a made basket, the ball goes to the other team at the top of the key, like a normal pickup game... the pace of the game is just way too fast, and it all looks the same, whether they make or miss a shot, so its hard to keep up, which makes it uninteresting...
and the US, yeah, they gotta get better players... the sad sacks we got out there now, suck arse
