He's throwing the check down every time. Hasn't thrown a single ball past 9yards for a completion. He's throwing spitballs, not darts
I have more faith in Leavitt developing than I did Nuss. Especially with Lane.

Ill also say that Ive heard Leavitt is putting in all of the work that Nuss wasnt. He's spending a ton of time in the VR, and with his WRs and TEs.
Acadian Ambulance. Charging 10k to bring someone to the hospital while some random 30 yr old who passed a 6 month EMT course takes your blood pressure and counts your respirations but can't do more than 5 MPH over the speed limit and cant/won't administer any drugs unless they recieve permission from the unit supervisor and then putting people into collections for it when they can't afford it, while also paying previous said EMT 35k a year.....

when you spend this level of money you need to make the playoff.

When you replace 41 players in the transfer portal, how much do you expect to pay? 40 million for 41 players and most of the money went to proven players like QB (The highest paid transfers are going to be QBs and the number is only going to go up every year just like the NFL) DE, OL, and WRs (all positions of major need) how much did you actually expect LSU to spend?
Right around a year ago, when this board was pumping the Tigers hard and claiming Nuss for Heisman, I made a post about having realistic expectations. That Nuss wasnt as good as the board thought, that our Oline was still going to be weak, and that Perkins still didnt have a real position besides see ball, get ball. I thought that 9-3 was our actual ceiling and that our defense would have to carry us to most of our wins due to returning most of the player base, having the most experience, and not needing to gel like the offense needed too. That post went over like a fart in church.

But, Im here to do the same thing. The national media pundits have this fan base believing its Championship or bust in year 1. And they've done that by design. They realize that Lane isnt a favorite outside of LSU, and so if they create this unreachable goal in year 1, it can drive the conversation towards LSU screwed themselves again with another coaching hire that isnt as good as they thought.

So lets look at this team from that same perspective.

Our QB may very well be our saving grace. Ive heard hes putting in the work to excel and that hes doing all of the things Nuss didnt. Hes spending a ton of time in the VR, and also throwing with WRs and TEs outside of practice. That being sad, he's new to LSU, new to Lanes offense, didnt get to practice as much during Spring, and had never played a down with ANY of these WRs. Its going to take time to gel.

Our Oline, looks to be improved on paper but once again, 0 time playing along side one another. You have to understand what the guy on the left or right of you is thinking on every play on these college O lines. Blocking schemes aren't simply "you have this guy, block him" since they stunt and have exotic blitz packages. You have to understand when to pass off on blocks, or when that pass off is coming so someone can pick up the stunting DL or blitzing LB/safety.

WRs. Man, if what Im hearing is correct, these guys are all studs but we heard that about last years guys. Once again, we need time to figure out whos who and what each person excels at on game day.

RBs. We have legit 3 starters for most teams right now. This is our biggest strength and if these guys can have patience and vision I think we see our first 1k rusher RB in a few years.

Defense side should be close to the same as last year if not better. Ive pounded my chest for 3 years that Perkins was actually a weak link, so if we stay healthy I think this defense is better. We are going to be relying on them through the first 4 games
I believe.

But staying healthy is going to be the key, especially in 2 positions. DL and DB. We are INCREDIBLY lacking depth at these 2 positions. One injury at the DB position and our season could fall apart.

Do I think we make the playoffs? Maybe. This is a hell of a schedule with basically a new team on the offensive side. Dabo is going to pull out all of his tricks he can to try and get an upset, because his career is on the line right now. Dabo gets blown out at LSU, I dont think he makes the end of the week. And we all know Ole Miss is going to be a wild ride.

It'll be a LSU season for the history books one way or the other. I still think the good guys prevail in the end with at least a seat in the playoffs but give it some time.
This board creates infatuations with certain players and they only watch the "highlights" instead the rest of their body of work.

Perkins wasnt even 50% as good as this board thought he was. He is very weak, can not break first contact and only has one skill set. Speed. And in high-school you can play see ball, get ball, but not in the SEC. He was lost anytime he coulsnt blitz or spy. He took awful angles in pursuit and gave up on plays especially late season.

This board watched 5 plays his freshman year and then disregarded every other body or work. Wanna know who Perkins is? Go rewatch Nicholls in 24. Watch him get bullied by D2 tackles and TEs the entire time, and watch him get so frustrated he throws a punch. BTW, we pulled Perkins for 2 drives and put Whit in. We stopped Nicholls on both drives 3-0. We put Perkins back in and they scored.

Lol, not even close to being true. On year 4 of the new engine with still no fix.

being injured his senior year, and despite throwing for 4000 yards his junior year he just sucks?

Yes, because his 4000 yards were all agaisnt bad teams. Look at his stats agaisnt only SEC teams and youll realize it wasnt impressive at all.

And this is the problem with TD. Yall pick arbitrary stats like 4000 yards OR Perkins sacks his freshman year and think "generational talent" while avoiding the rest of their body of work thats on film.

Anyone remember the multiple timeouts on first down because he can't read defenses to make adjustments? Anyone remember his sub 30% completion on throws over 25 yards? Anyone remember a 5th year senior still back pedaling into sacks instead of pushing up into the pocket or simply throwing the ball away? Anyone remember Nuss throwing into triple coverage while we had guys wide open down the field? Anyone remember when Nuss threw to only checkdowns his last game for 30 completions but didnt even have 120 yards? Stop living off of the high moments and look at the 90% of his work and its the reason he was a 7th round pick.
Nah, the LSU compliance lady is really nice.

I dont understand the 30A mentality. I go to the beach, to be at the beach. Spending 2 hours in traffic, then 2 hours at a restaurant, to spend maybe 4 hours at the beach in which some security guard might run me off isnt relaxing to me.

Been there, done that. Spent more money to head to Pensacola and actually relax.

I have been meaning to take the stadium tour myself…was it worthwhile

Its a cool thing to do. You get to see the Lawton Room which is where the "Nattys" are held at, shows all of the players who were All Americans, Helmets of 1st round draft picks, and the guys who were/are on active rosters. You then head over to the TS locker room which is cool, but its not the Football Opps locker room by any means. From there you head to the walk out tunnel, get to hit the win bar, and take photos under the goal post without going on the field. And thats the tour. About 45 mins from start to finish. Ive done it during the week before and it was a little bit more interesting because they were actively working on helmets in the equipment room but I wouldn't pass up a weekend tour. Interestingly enough, when LSU goes in for halftime, they hang out in this very small "media" area underneath the student section/band.

Well Id hope Verge wouldn't try and recruit a skinny kid to play Oline.

Quick Shout Out to Verge

Might dox myself with this one, but we took a tour of Tiger Stadium this weekend. We ran into Verge who was working out at the stadium. Wasn't planning on bothering him, but he actually came up to my 18 month old nephew whos a bit chunky and has the same curly hair as Will Campbell, and made a joke about starting recruiting early for Oline. The man even got into a 3 point stance with my nephew for a photo.

All this to say, I think we may have a good one. Making the right decisions so far, and seems to be one hell of a human.

Saw Coach O last Thursday

Played a round at U Club and some of yall know Coach O owns a house. Saw him on the back patio, hit him with the "Geaux Tigers" which of course he returned. I said back "Aint gonna bother you anymore, but you plan on being on the sidelines any time soon?" To which he responded "Might be soon" with that dumb arse South Lafourche laugh.

Very Dear Facebook post, but seeing the news I had to crack a smile. I could have been the next Tigerlawyer or whatever.
