I would if. I knew where to look.

Pointless? It would put things in context, but you probably knew that already.

For comparison sake , college baseball World Series last year averaged 2.5 million. So a regular season girls basketball game basically drew as many viewers as college baseball biggest stage .

True, but was the CWS on ABC in prime time?

Besides, it’s already been demonstrated that college baseball is not a big tv draw. Baseball doesn’t get tv dollars the way football and MBB do.

In context to what?

Does anyone think Football or the NBA would be less popular than women's college basketball?

It's pointless.

None actually, when you consider how much Saturday night primetime space would have COST the university. It was basically a free 2 hour long commercial for LSU..........................and it looked great!

That is very true. It was a big plus for LSU. That can’t be argued.

The question is will this be a one time thing, or is ABC encouraged to build on it.

Wrong. Now because others posted the stats we all can see that WBB is about where college baseball is, but behind the NBA and way behind college football as to viewers.

Just saying 2 million watched doesn’t put things into context and those like me had no idea of how WBB stacked up.

Exactly . If LSU baseball suddenly became a losing program, the box would look like the pmac currently looks for men’s basketball.

Compare how much advertising and money ESPN has dumped into the two sports. ESPN basically talks about college baseball for two weeks in the year. They force womens basketball into the limelight as much as possible, and have been doing it heavily for a while now.

In short, this isn't a good "gotcha" from you

I hate to be "that guy", but ... only positives? You sure?

No one in this conversation brought that up until you did. There is no context. If anyone thought the OP was suggesting that LSU WBB was drawing the attention that the NBA, college basketball, the NFL, or college football, they lack reading comprehension.

The fact that a premier college WBB game draws about the same as the CWS finals is a step forward for WBB. And LSU seems to always be a major draw.

I really can't figure out why so many seem to get wound up about a woman's sport actually having a good moment.

Anyone suggesting WBB has zero popularity is retarded.

Anyone suggesting the product is up to par with the men's game or nearly as popular is even more retarded.

The FULL Pete Maravich Assembly Center looked great, but they lost again to "Dawn the Racist" and those god awful grey, black, purple and gold "Circus Clown" uniforms were a fricking embarrassment.

Well, you're entitled to your opinion. Personally, I LOVED the black uniforms and Dawn is not a "racist"..............................................at least not as much as many of the bigots we have on this board.

You’re basically making the same argument that the WBNA made. In order words, they would do better if they got similar promotion as the men’s teams.

I doubt seriously that anybody is investing as much money promoting women’s college basketball nearly as much as the other sports being brought up in this thread. It just seems that way to you because you’re so triggered by such things.

There are not many people who can make people care about women’s basketball. Kim Mulkey is one of them and we are lucky to have her.
