Lake Charles is 45.88% black folks. Nationwide they are 12-13%. Lake Charles is hoarding somebody else's share and needs to get their numbers correct. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

That’s just because LC doesn’t annex some of the suburbs. Moss Bluff and Sulphur are very heavy white population. South Lake Charles is also but LC city limits capture almost all of the black population in the parish. Do it by parish and it’s much more comparable. And I’m not knocking Lafayette. It’s a nice place to live. I think LC will have huge growth the next 5-10 years but the hurricane risk will always keep it mid sized. It’s one of the few places in Louisiana where almost all kids still go to public school.

I’ll also say the plants in LC have offered great opportunities for kids raised lower middle class to get out of poverty. Lots of the black population in LC works at the plants and make a great living. LC doesn’t have a huge racial divide like the rest of the state.
