Yeah, never go there again. It's shite now and only survives because at one time it was good and people go there out of habit.

As a life long resident of Lafayette, I don't know anyone here who wants to see LC not grow. I'm happy for the LNG going on over there and have visited a casino or two, and for a fairly easy drive west. If they get bigger, great, but Lafayette is still growing and the metro area will grow a ton once there are rockets launching to the south.
Although Youngsville is trying its best to gatekeep their growth with dumb HOA ordinances, Broussard is doing things to attract commercial growth.

Personally, I don't think so. Lafayette per se may be larger, but what really gives Lafayette's population legs to grow is the surrounding 6 or 8 towns (Crowley, Rayne, Carencro, Breaux Bridge, Abbeville, New Iberia, Saint Martinville, etc.). Their best and brightest are relocating to Maurice, Mire, Scott, Youngsville, & Broussard. Those areas are exploding with population growth and related commercial/retail development. Unfortunately for Lake Charles it doesn't have this dynamic.

Are you aware that the Greengate Garden Center has closed? I was told that the owners want about 5 million for the property. It looks to be about four or five acres.

They might catch up if you’re strictly talking city limits population. If you’re talking metropolitan area populations it’s not even close.
I’m not so sure majority of the folks working in those LNG plants are residing in LC proper.

Crowley is a ghost of its former self.
Lake Charles was pretty much run by 5 or 6 families for decades whose money came from timber and large rice farms (both ended up having oil and gas) It had the opportunity to build an "Oil Center" which had a lot to do with Laffy's growth via small oilfield fabrication companies and services businesses.

Probably Nederland for Cheniere
Likely Carlyss or Sulphur for Sempra
I would go with Grand Lake for the two in Cameron
