There is no cap on DSAs. LSU gave Jay an allowance for 40 roster spots.
I stand corrected. Then we just missed on some of these guys. Seems we recruited a bunch of pull side power hitters. Brown, Curiel, and Miliam can go the other way. The rest can’t.

You do realize that they carry more than 34 man roster thanks to the grandfather clause, right?
Yes. My understanding is that was capped at 2 as designated student athletes. We are currently carrying 38 on roster but some of those may be injuries. Still it’s less than the 42 ish we’ve carried in the past.

We need more Louisiana guys
I’d love more Louisiana guys but I think that’s a year to year thing. I do think he found some Louisiana guys that played elsewhere to transfer back. So far hasn’t really panned out yet.

I think these are just early struggles that eventually we’ll work through but I’m not as sure as I have been in the past for 2 reasons.
First the 34 man roster. Obviously everyone has the same limit but if you miss on a few of your evaluations it’s much more costly now. Especially on the mound.
Second, leaning into the transfer portal versus recruiting the high end 4 year guys. I think this part gets better as they get more comfortable but honestly I don’t think these transfers understand the expectations of LSU baseball. The culture is hard to build with 2 year guys. We’ve always had out of state guys but most of them were 4 year guys. I think with last years freshman class Jay is trying to shift back to the 4 year guys a little more but those guys aren’t ready yet. I’m a little worried we missed on some of these transfers. I still think the portal is important but the balance of 4 yr guys to portal guys is the tough question. Clearly finding Skenes in the portal was huge so evaluating portal guys will always be needed. The guys playing the best ball have been here a few years though.

Between Skip and Tony Robicheaux they are the 2 most class act coaches in the history of Louisiana baseball. Both of them helped build an incredible culture of Louisiana baseball. I’ll give them that.
And I’ll say Deggs recruits the Louisiana kid more than LSU now. Always felt like Skip went after Louisiana kids also. Don’t think Jay has to really anymore with the funding of 34 scholarships TOPPs doesn’t matter to LSU anymore.

It’s just 2 cameras on each dugout. Not even behind the plate. Supposedly it calls foul and fair also. I think each camera is set up down each foul line. I heard mixed reviews on it also. Doesn’t call the low curveballs very well.
I didn’t see it in person this weekend but talked to some 2D reps about it.
Trackman can do the same thing but obviously very expensive.

As a dad you’ll have to teach them a process for managing their mental emotions. They learn more from losing than they do from winning if they have the right mindset to frame the situation.
For me this is what I used.
Pick 2 skills they need to work on from each game. Don’t focus on the failure focus on what they can work on to get better for next game. Example…if they struck out twice on curve balls flush the strikeouts and let them tell you they want to work on hitting curve balls.
Last make them replay the best play or 2 they had in the game. Make them walk you through it in detail.
Remember the good. Work on the bad. Leave the emotions at the field.

Rose Born killed in her donut shop in Lake Charles was also a brutal crime that shook the community. This one and KK’s corner I think shook the community more than any other in my memory because of the unknowns surrounding them. Most murders have a clear connection of victim to criminal. These 2 did not.

A ball won’t exist in 3 years. College baseball will take its place 100% and that is MLB’s intent. They’re wasting too much $ on kids that never develop enough that should have gone to college. That’s why the draft dropped to 15 rounds and will be only 10 rounds soon. Once it goes to 10 rounds A ball will go away.
This is the most boring Super Bowl I think I’ve ever watched. Commercials included.

No offense. Terrible QB play. Commercials haven’t been funny at all. TPUSA halftime show what pretty solid. But when does the football game start?

We’re a billion dollar brand. $40 mill is cheap. Just give it 5 years. SEC schools will have a salary cap of $100 mil.

Hello every kids family that plays a college sport. Any level of D1 athletics or even high level JUCO and D2 had a family that spent a ton of $ on this. I can’t fault any of them for pursuing THEIR dreams. The life lessons they learned along the way will benefit them and make them stronger people as they become adults.

He’d be with them telling them to run from their sexual impurity.
Jesus died to redeem them too. Sin is sin but they need Jesus just like I need Jesus. For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. He’d tell them to take up their cross and follow him.

I could see going to a March for life or something of the sorts. But still not sure it accomplishes anything.
These people are literally marching for the freedom of people that rape and kill and rob them in their own city. Like why doesn’t Waltz just offer for them all to move into the gov mansion.

I never have nor am I aware of any that I had an opportunity to attend.
My city must suck. We just live our normal lives with our normal kids and churches. Somehow people of all colors, ages, genders and ethnicities just get along.

His finger clearly isn’t on the trigger and it does look as if the weapon went off inadvertently as others have said.
