I'm new to LC and tried it out on a weeknight. It's gotta be the worst Mexican food I've had in a long, long time.
I haven’t lived in LC for a few years but if El Tapatio is still open on hwy 14 bring your appetite and your 9mm! Really good

The rice trucks are going to make it a shite show but they will not be on lake st much now.
Rice trucks used to go 210 to Lake to Sallier to the port and it wasn't that bad. There is lot less rice than there used to be. It the heyday of Lake Chuck being THE rice port for SE USA 210 wasn't even there. The 1968 strike moved a lot of rice to Mobile for good.
Let's not forget it was the port for VWs going to 1/3 of the USA Those car carriers coming up the ship channel with balls to the walls was great for people crabbing.

Laura did a number on that building and it didn’t come back.
Victorias is my breakfast and lunch spot for true Mex, best Mex in LC.

It’s one of the few places in Louisiana where almost all kids still go to public school.
Well yeah no wonder Barbe and Sam Houston own baseball… there’s no Catholic League there taking their kids

Although trashy, Sulphur and westlake have a good baseball team as well.
All four of these teams have won state championships now.

Lafayette may have been larger than LC population wise....but they didn't have Lake Charles tower as TALL like this. Too bad it was demolished due to hurricane Laura
Capital One 22 stories 375 feet
Lafayette's Tallest ....Chase Tower 15 floors ; 196 feet
Tooo bad this proposed Twin High rise didn't get built...would have been the only tower tall enough not to strain your neck looking above the tree-line from I-10

Are you aware that the Greengate Garden Center has closed? I was told that the owners want about 5 million for the property. It looks to be about four or five acres.
yea i believe the owners were wanting to retire. havent heard how much they were wanting for the property but its prime property, but i cant image 5 million just for the property.

That building from construction to demolition might be the biggest waste of money I've ever seen. Its on the level of Somali fraud, seriously.

I wish more people would move from Lafayette to Lake Charles.

South Beauregard too. Just won state a few years ago and are always contenders
Welsh was state runner-up this year
Baseball in SWLA is pretty dominant

What will the Mitsubishi purchase do for Lake Charles?

St louis has won since covid too and played for another and semifinals a couple times. the whole are is full of great teams
Barbe, Sulphur, SH, Iowa, Westlake, South Beau, St Louis, Welsh, Dequincy, Grand Lake have all won or made finals since the 2020 cancelled seasons. its crazy how good the baseball is here in HS
also crazy how bad the youth facilities are here compared to Lafayette area but yet the HS faciltiies are the best in the state

. LC is not disjointed and is easily the most navigable metro in Louisiana.
I talk about this all the time.
Nobody from Lafayette can can any city disjointed, especially a city in a nearly pure grid like LC

I will say that LC is horrible at supporting local restaurants. They never last, and the ones that do last, I have no idea how. Like Casa Manana. shite is so nasty now but has been around for 40 years yet anything decent and local makes it a few years at best.
The weirdest part of LC food is that any new restaurant, no matter how shitty, will be PACKED for a few months. Even Fazollis was packed. When the DQ south of town opened up the lines were so long it was quicker to go to Welsh and come back.

They did retire...$4MM for 5 acres of prime commercial property on Lake Street. Be curious to see what goes there.

I’ve live in quite a few states growing up.
I’ve never seen anything like what I I’ve seen Barbe do over the past 20 years but now the entire area is just outright dominant.
That said, those boys put that work in.

I was out and about in the MS coast last year and got into a discussion about high school baseball with a guy and he thought I was embellishing about Barbe. Cell phones ended that debate eventually.
