Yes, the balls are not only dead but will screw up your clubs hitting them if you bring your own.
TopGolf is not for actual golfers.

First of all, my response was in jest. But since you seem to take this so personally- especially as it wasn't directed at you- let me retort:
He claims to hit his 3W 250 yards. A cursory search of distances for the 3W is as follows:
Now he may very well be a scratch golfer. But that's doubtful by his own admission that he isn't "God's gift" to golf. So there's an excellent chance he assumes he's a longer hitter than he is. Thus my reply. And if he is getting 250yds out of his 3W, I'd love to know his accuracy. I'd bet his carry isn't 250. It might just roll out to 250 if course conditions are favorable. Or he's hitting downhill.
But you can carry on being offended.
He claims to hit his 3W 250 yards. A cursory search of distances for the 3W is as follows:
quote:
Beginner golfers: Often hit a 3 wood around 200 yards, especially from the fairway, as accuracy and clean contact are still developing
.
High-handicap golfers: Usually achieve 210 yards, benefiting from some experience but still inconsistent strike quality
.
Mid-handicap golfers: Tend to hit 215–225 yards, with better control and more consistent ball speed
Low-handicap or scratch golfers: Can reach 225 yards or more, with tighter dispersion and intentional gapping between fairway woods
.

They definitely do. The balls for sure.

The clubs suck and those aren't ProV's you're hitting.
Not saying you did that but you don't go to Top Golf to practice. I wouldn't even want to use my clubs with those golf balls.

I have met and talked with the former Top Golf President. The balls are deadened to prevent them from going outside of the net as much as possible.

They used reduced flight balls dumbass
In conjunction with "They are built with extra-thick, hard Surlyn or ionomer covers designed to withstand thousands of high-impact strikes off concrete mats, lowering overall elasticity and spin efficiency"
Dumbass.

It wasn't very clear that you weren't being an a-hole. Apologies for misunderstanding. Typical problem with text, no?
Hitting a 3W 250 is not a rare feat. Unlikely his carry is 250 (which he would have likely specified) otherwise you assume it's the total distance.

Is this actually true? Honestly curious. Maybe this is why I suck at golf lately

I enjoyed that place the first 2 times I went. When I went back a 3rd time for a bday function, I decided I was done. I don't get the repeat appeal.

They are a lot harder than premium golf balls. If you bring your clubs to top golf and hit those ball for an hour or two, is it going to ruin them? No. But if you bang a shite ton of balls with real forged irons, yes it will be bad for them.

Top golf is for people who don't golf.

I have given up trying to talk about distances with other golfers.
One out of four guys claims he is bombing 300 yard drives on the regular. Hitting to 3 feet from 150 with consistency and shooting five over. Yet when you get on the course they can't even get it on the fairway or GIR.
Golf brings out the complete BS'er in people. Always has, always will. But that is what makes the game so compelling. It is the one sport where you can go out and once in a while hit it just like the pros. I will never be able to throw a 95 MPH fastball, run a 4.40 dash with a linebacker chasing me or do any of the other things that Pros do. But I hit a couple of shots a round that would be acceptable on the PGA tour. Which is what keeps me coming back.

Five posts in and we have two guys that consistently blast them over the back net though.

Here's how you can find out for sure.
Take the driver you normally hit with carry a couple of your own balls and smack them and see exactly what you get.
