Nate, one of the main characters, was gay
What dude or trans person did Nate hook up with?
quote:
he was traumatized by his dad’s actions, which included fricking underage Jules
Right. So his dad was gay.
quote:
What don’t you get?
Buddy, what you don't get is that that storyline was over. Nobody, and I mean nobody, ended season two thinking "What about Nate possibly being gay???????" I'll as you again, what would you have liked to have seen done to continue that story line?
People move on after high school. Nate and Jules moved on just like 99% of people that go to high school together do. Or did you just want to see a story line in season three of Nate internally battling with some homosexual tendencies?
They through in some Nate and his dad conflict resolution but could only do it so much given the actor that played his dad was about to die.

College football is better than ever.
You don't actually believe this. No one does.

The 'he-him' thing was overblown.
It's kind of baffling that a person couldn't understand that a HE man movie was making a pronouns joke. Legit the perfect film to make a 2 second joke about it.

I just thought the trailers looked a little too cheesy and video game-like. And seriously, Jared Leto is the kiss of death for any film, it seems. Even in voice form.
Way too much CGI. Saw people on here saying it looked good and I was wondering if I was watching the same trailer. Looks awful.

again, people don’t stop being gay after 5 years
Actually, people can change. And it's not like they were hooking up. It was high schoolers texting.
But regardless, what part of that story line did you want to keep going?
Nate and Jules have moved on since high school and are doing their own thing but you just wanted the story to keep some hidden gay texting going on or something?
Woof, rough finish to the back nine and now a double on one for McWilliams. Boys need to turn it around.

so he stopped being gay?
Are you serious? They made an emotional connection and they never hooked up. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that have a lot of suppressed sexual feelings/emotions. It's not like he was his dad and actually banging him. He was obviously attracted to chicks as well and you know actually hooked up with them. It was a high school storyline that was over with and he was in a straight relationship. Again, 5 years down the road. Literally no one was wanting to start a new Nate and Jules story.

It very much was. That storyline ended when he gave the tapes back and got with Cassie and then later had his dad arrested. That was never going to be a continuing storyline between those two characters in a 5 year time jump.

I see it differently. I see the play in the West being significantly above the play in the east.
Of course it is. The west is way deeper and the Knicks avoided having to play the Celtics. But it doesn't change the fact that they were dishing out arse whoopings to playoff teams every single night.
I think the Knicks would have been heavy favorites over the Blazers and favorites over the Wolves. The Blazers won a game off the Spurs and the Wolves won two. Add to the fact that the Knicks beat them 2/3 in the regular season AND they have only gotten better, I think this is more likely to go seven than it is a sweep.
quote:
But, a sweep by San Antonio is definitely a possibility.
The Spurs should be favored but no way the Knicks get swept. They are all on all time heater right now and are playing as a unit as good as any team in recent memory.
An all time record point differential margin right now. You can say the teams they have faced aren't as good and that's true but that point differential is the highest ever even including the regular season, not just playoffs, No team has ever whooped up on even tanking teams in the regular season for as long as the Knicks are whooping up on playoff teams.
They're off to a hot start today too. Already on the right side of the cut line. Hope they keep it up.

I think it was a situation where in order to get all the now big name actors back, Levinson had to make story sacrifices and keep everyone happy. I'm sure he thought it was better to have everyone back and write around the personal issues than not have a season 3 at all.
I think he did about the best he could with a high maintenance class that had actresses that clearly wouldn't even be open to doing a scene together.
quote:
As far as the open-ended story threads, I got the sense this season that it was originally written to continue on, and at some point they decided to make this the final season. Then they had to edit the existing script to close some of the bigger storylines. The Rue and Alamo deaths definitely seemed rushed.
I think he has stated dating back to season 1 that he has written each season where it could be concluded with that story. Think it was pretty clear for a while this was for sure going to be the last season so I doubt there were many script changes or rushes. It was over 4 years in between seasons, I think he had plenty of time to figure out what he wanted to do.

Remember when Nate loved Jules bc he was affected by his dad’s videos? I get that there were personal issues & a dying actor, but damn I think it’s weird they just dropped that
That storyline has been dropped/resolved, even at the end of S2. Much less that it's a 5 year time jump showing how they drifted apart as young adults. They let a dying Eric Dane make peace with Jules at the wedding and there was really no need for a committed relationship Nate and a sugar boy Jules to have any continuing love interest.

How can anyone argue this entire era of OKC basketball hasn't been fake/artificial when you see how the league bent over backwards to force an all time loser like SGA over Wemby
I'm all for NBA conspiracies. For example the NBA 100000% told/forced Dallas to trade Luka to LA in exchange for guaranteeing them the #1 pick in the draft. But, Wemby is much better for the NBA than OKC/Shai. There's no reason for them to have forced Shai over Wemby.
I'm to the part where they are figuring out who Samantha is and outside of the trains in book three, this is the first time I've been thoroughly confused. I read the explanation of the lore given to Carl and Donut twice and I'm just like wtf I don't get it
I am really enjoying this book but I swear this one is dropping names at a rate that is just impossible to keep up with. So. Many. Characters.

With how bad Holmgren was, his value is low. But he would be a great fit next to Queen. If we traded Murphy and Jones to OKC, I think we could get Holmgren and at least one 1st (#12 of 17). That just fixes a lot of our issues right away.
What  TM3 and Herb for Chet AND a first? Is that a joke?
OKC is going to trade the 23 year old who was just 2nd in the defensive player of the year voting, an all star and 3rd team all nba for TM3 simply because he had a bad series versus Wemby?

This would be so incredibly dumb and short sighted. No way Presti, one of the best GM's in professional sports, throws away everything he's built for Giannis.

I caught up last night, so through 9 episodes. I’ll watch the season finale next week, but this show has both terrible characters and a dumbass storyline.
This season can be boiled down to Marsden arrives in town, catches Hamm stealing, blackmails him. All the rest is just ridiculous and boring filler. The whole dog thing with Peet is just a waste of TV.
Caught up this weekend as well.
Wow. Just wow.
Legit nothing about this show makes sense. The storyline itself is so bad but just the actual directing and everything sucks. There's no rhyme or reason to anything.
The narration used to actually make sense and now they throw it in atjust random times that makes no sense at all. You'll be watching an episode and there has been no Coop narration then all of a sudden he's looking out the window and a narration starts that is just out of nowhere. He had virtually no relationship with his dad and now he's seeing his dead dad appear randomly in scenes.
It's clear the writers had no intentions of a second season and Apple probably asked them to do another because of the success of season one and they really really should have just declined. They are not good at winging it.
