why is everyone bagging on him. its not that unheard of.
I am not a good golfer. 250 down the middle with a driver is my peak performance esp now that I am 50.
But my dad played from when he was very young and I watched him hit 3 woods 250 yards into his 60s. And that was when he was only playing 2-3 times a month. He got refitted when he retired and was playing a brand new Callaway bag with the new drivers and woods. He's tall 6'3" and athletic.... well, he was..... he's in his 70s now.
Now it wasn't every one. There were plenty of mishits, and burners and hooks and shanks in there.
But when he piped it, he freaking piped it.

I don’t think the clubs are “deadened” considering you’re allowed to bring your own clubs. Probably just cheap heads and shafts.
But the balls are definitely nerfed. They use special limited flight balls that lose about 10-15% distance compared to normal high performance balls.

Just can’t get into golf. It’s very frustrating for me. I’m horrible at it and takes a lot of time so I dropped it.

I’m 55, played golf most of my life and average about 240 with a 3 wood with average swing speed of 105. I have four sons who can all hit it further than me. This data comes from a well calibrated simulator we have. It seems to lineup with what we see on an actual course.
So OPs claim is not ridiculous.
I’ve only been a few times, but I agree that Top Golf balls and equipment suck. I doubt I’m reaching 200 with their 3w and balls. I never brought my own clubs there to test it, but I suspect it has as much to do with their spongy shafts as with the balls.

I think its cool for what it is. Ive been a couple of times with a group of people and its something to do on a Friday or Saturday night during the summer and everyone is looking for something to do.
Is it the best thing ever? No, but its something.
