It's about collision mismatch

And as much as I prefer a car I'll always have a truck or SUV moving forward

There was a pink dump truck for sale up the road from me... I begged my husband to buy it for me.

He wouldn't.

Imagine it being 2026 and still not realizing NYT is nothing more than a Marxist propaganda outlet for the Democrat Party. I put as much, or more, stock into the checkout lane tabloids as I do anything printed by NYT.

Homosexuals embrace the NYT bc it lacks masculinity, just like them.

A-pillars have gotten larger with the roll-over regulations.

Plus the backwards rake (for aero and looks and mpg) makes the A-pillar take up more visual space.

My 2013 F-150 sightlines, esp over the hood, are worse than those that were on our 2002 F150. The 2013 feels and drives bigger.

as cars got smaller and less capable of hauling people, cargo and trailers, folks migrated to SUVs and pickups. So the government is partly responsible but the automakers love upsizing as much as fast-food joints...

probably the biggest offenders of highway tailgating are from jacked up trucks

Nothing a little brake check can’t fix! Only if they’re being really obnoxious about it though.

I think you should not be able to own a large four wheel drive truck or any truck for that matter if you never put it in four wheel drive, never tow anything, never put more than groceries and 3 bags of topsoil from Home Depot in the bed, have never let it get dirty and don’t know how to park.

And if you have the New Iberia squat you need the shite kicked out of you by Brother Spell.

I have had 3/4 ton diesels for 35 years and all of them work their asses off. They are well maintained and cleaned pretty regular but they have scratches and dents which are like callouses on a working man’s hand.

If you actually work the truck god bless you. Otherwise I hope you get stuck in the LSU grass parking lot and have to get a coed in her Jeep to pull you out.

And to hold air bags. I drive a fullsize sedan and almost gotten in several wrecks not seeing a car in that fraction of second blind spot because of the large A pillar. Im aware of it now and always lean forward and back a bit to check it but its taken a while to form the habit.

I think it pretty obvious that larger vehicles are contributing to higher pedestrian deaths but folks lack of attention, driver and pedestrians, seems to have gotten a lot worse lately. I saw a guy jogging that just ran straight through a no crosswalk intersection with out looking or slowing down and get plowed a few months ago. Luckily the car was small and not moving fast so he lived. Car had the right of way.

This is true. I looked into full size sedans available today, and they are limited to luxury models. Other than older used models, Toyota Crown is the only standard type option that I’ve seen available new. Yeah, I’m one of the poor according to the OT.

I clicked on the article, and then clicked on the link of where they sourced the pedestrian death data.

Sure enough, the NYT used data
frin the IIHS, a reputable source....

BUT

They cherrypicked the data to throw trrucks under the bus.

Iif you look at the whole chart, pedestrian deaths were higher in 1975 and for a lot of the 80s than in 2024. This, with a lot more drivers on the road now than then.

In fact, you could make an easier, and more believable, case for the rise in cellphone use ( both drivers and pedestrians) contributing to this phenomenon.

But no, trucks are da debil!!!
