LSU Dominates Texas A&M In Statement Win At Tiger Stadium

No. 10 LSU bounced back in a big way Saturday night, dominating No. 23 Texas A&M 35-6 at Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers took control early, built a 14-3 halftime lead and then completely broke the game open with 21 unanswered points in the third quarter.

LSU struck first when running back Dilin Jones scored on a direct snap to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead.

Texas A&M answered with a field goal, but LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt put together a big drive late in the second quarter. Leavitt connected with Winston Watkins Jr. on a pair of explosive plays before finding Jackson Harris for a touchdown that sent LSU into halftime leading 14-3.

The Tigers wasted little time extending the lead after halftime.

Leavitt found Harris wide open for a 57-yard touchdown on fourth down to make it 21-3. LSU's defense then stopped Texas A&M on fourth down, setting up another short-field scoring opportunity.

Backup quarterback Landen Clark finished that possession with a touchdown run before adding another rushing score later in the quarter, extending LSU's lead to 35-6.

Texas A&M was held without a touchdown all night as LSU's defense controlled the game and made life difficult for quarterback Marcel Reed. Tamarcus Cooley also intercepted Reed in the second half as the Tigers continued to shut down the Aggies.

The win improves LSU to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in SEC play after last week's 32-24 loss at Ole Miss. Texas A&M falls to 2-2.
