Is it deadly to the person driving it?
That is more complex than most people think.
A large SUV/truck has higher survivability in a multi-car accident
The gap narrows significantly in single car accidents
Large SUVs/trucks have a greater chance of being involved in a single car accident
Smaller vehicles tend to have much better active safety features. Today active safety feature articles tend to focus on electronics, but the real active safety features are braking, handling, and even acceleration. Compared to many cars, large SUVs/trucks are abysmal at braking and handling. I prefer to lean toward accident avoidance. I feel less safe when I am driving our SUV. I have probably avoided 1000 accidents in my life for every one I have been involved in. It is almost certain that several of those would have been an actual accident if I were in one of our SUVs and not our cars.

It's a hit piece on pick up trucks...
Keep in mind the author/authors of this piece, as well as most employees at the NYT, do not own cars and do not think you should own them either.

Almost certain is doing a lot of work there

Oh yeah, the media today never leaves any other information out, that might prove otherwise, when doing a hit piece on something or someone...

Based. You are correct in this post.
The OT snowflakes can't handle any criticism of their pavement princesses and are seething and lashing out.
Keep it up, king.

Nothin like a 5’9 little man syndrome baw struggling to park at the HEB, holding up a line of cars in the garage with the lifted f250 so he can lug his groceries back to the McMansion.

You are so triggered that someone dared point out that your giant F-250 is dangerous and killing people.
You cannot fathom someone lives differently than you and take any other form of transportation so you immediately start seething and screeching MuH hiT PiecE!!! Reeeeeeee.
Data is presented that you don't like so you immediately assume it is wrong. Sad!

I'm the one triggered....?
Pot meet kettle...
I'm just calling it as I see it....
This is not the first time the NYT has been after larger vehicles...

Not really, because the easiest examples are in pure braking. There have been many times I have stopped with only a few feet to spare being in full ABS the entire time, had I been in a large SUV or truck my stopping distance would have been significantly longer and there would have been a collision. My car will stop from 60 in 90' or less in dry conditions an F150 or Escalade will take 30' or more extra. That is a huge difference in many accidents.

The New York Times doesn’t possess the credibility you think it does.

A SAHM driving a Yukon while drinking her Starbucks is almost as scary as a Sikh 18 wheeler driver on the road.

I think the authors thought about the study and what they wanted it to conclude before they conducted it, yes.

I bet the New York Times didn’t make the connection with Obama’s EPA ruling over vehicle footprint size and fuel economy, which forced car companies into making bigger vehicles to get around their absurd fuel economy standards.

More pedestrian deaths so it must be the vehicles fault..
The author of this study probably also blames the vehicles when protestors drive them through the crowds

Why are you fat fricks so insecure that you need a jacked up $100K truck to not do trucks things in and commute from the suburbs to your office to post on TD all day? lmao.
Well, the salesman did tell me to factor in the weight I'm driving around every day when calculating towing capacity, he then suggested I start looking at the 3/4-ton trucks for daily commute, and 1-ton if I planned on using the bed
