LSU football is supported by people all over state, country, and even has supporters spread across the globe.
If those supporters don’t like the results, they can refuse to contribute or demand changes be made to those in charge.
The BR tax base is much smaller than LSU football and they are stuck with their moronic elected officials. There’s a reason a significant portion supports St. George.

At risk?
The risk is to their victims, a-hole. The word you're searching for is CHOICE. They CHOOSE to engage in violence.

you could drop 100 million on north baton rouge and not make a dent in the murder rate

Baton Rouge is just as good at gun violence as football, so it sounds like we’re spending just the right amount.

more jails
This.
EBR Parish prison was built to 1975 population standards. It only holds around 1600 inmates.
EBR Juvenile Detention is a group home for runaways that was converted into a jail. It only holds around 50 inmates.
Both of these facilities were at capacity pre Covid. The juvenile facility has been escaped several times annually.
The voters in this Parish need to consider funding new facilities for both. It will be a start to curbing the crime.

LOL. Hillar Moore thinks money can make people virtuous. If only we spent more money we could eradicate crime. I have a better idea, Hillar-put the violent shitstains in jail.

Anyone who's from here knows throwing money at this will only result in another grifting opportunity for whatever organization it goes to.
The violence will not stop until the people doing the violence are removed from society.
The End

Apples and oranges.
BR collects taxes specifically to fight crime. They do not collect taxes for football.
BREC collects taxes to facilitate recreation including football, but none of that goes to college athletics.
But I will say if we treated Broome, the DA and Murphy Paul like an LSU football coach they would have been fired a long time ago.

Money may not make them virtuous but hot lead sure seems to.
He could have been fricking a police horse in front of everyone during a parade but the second he gets shot he dindu nuffin and was an aspiring rapper and heading to college in the fall.

That is the problem. I do not see the new facilities getting the support needed to get the funding.

As the population grows, the tax “revenue” also grows naturally. The money is already there but not being spent properly. The answer isn’t to tax more, but spend more wisely.

Be careful what you wish for... Hillar has his issues, but whoever takes his spot could easily be much worse.

Yea let tax payers fund more research and programs so people like Gravy and HH can make a living virtue signaling

Hillar and his need to get reelected are a big part of the problem in BR. But the BR "elite" are good with him so he stays. I would rather Ted James have ran against him and won because at least we know what Ted James is about. He isn't dishonest like Hillar.

True, but good luck with that.
BREC has its good points but is pretty much a jobs program for a bunch of worthless fricks who would be turning tricks on the corner if not for city handouts.
Not touching Council On Aging with a 100 foot pole.
Etc.

Maybe we should take the football money and hand it out to all the poors.
Bam. No more murders. I solved crime, what do I win?

Not all those 170 murders are drug related.
I would bet upwards of 70% either stemmed from drug dealing, were committed during or escaping from a burglary/robbery/etc, or from the selling of stolen goods, those thefts and fences to finance a drug habit.
We don’t have a violence issue in this country as much as we have a prohibition and addiction problem in this country.

BR used to spend more dollars on gun control in the form of more LEO manpower , especially with special teams/groups that targeted geographical areas, people , and activities associated with gun violence. Last I checked , at least half of the people who voted in the last two mayoral election rejected the expenditures in this area. Last I checked, The Advocate backed the candidate who deprioritized LEO.
