They should be studying how to reduce the percentage of single parent homes.

Ironically, if they stopped subsidizing single parent homes, they would help both the crime problem and the budget. But doing less is never on the government's menu.

Do killings over “respect” or killing snitches to cover up other crimes count here?

Baton Rouge would benefit greatly from an investment in anti-violence work to rival its investment in college athletics.

So pay parent(s) to care and teach their children right from wrong and responsibility? Good luck with that. Nothing else can be done - plenty of people get free housing, free food, free medical care, free schooling, and free daycare - and that’s just government programs. There are jobs programs and classes, and plenty of opportunities to better oneself. No one should be without anything unless they are truly mentally ill or severely lazy.

Gravy: People in North br are killing each other because of lack of job opportunities

Last time I was unemployed, I took to the streets and killed a few people until the next job opportunity came.

A statement like that is so condescending and they don't even recognize it.

"If we don't have a job, we inevitably kill people"

East Baton Rouge Parish ended 2021 with a record-breaking murder rate amid surging violence nationwide: 149 people killed, an 84 percent increase from 2019.

These a-hole journalists and their sensationalist cherry-picking of numbers. Notice they didn't compare with 2020's 136 homicides. Also, that 84% doesn't make sense no matter what numbers are used. The Advocate proving their staff is nothing but poorly educated dolts.

They're not poorly educated, they're intentionally misrepresenting the facts to paint democrats in the best light possible because, well, they're all democrats as well.

Yes. If only the rich white folks here and traveling in for games would just take their money they're stubbornly and selfishly withholding from spending on black people. stop being so mean you mean greedy white people.

sigh

I really would like to interview a bunch of black folks and ask if they get tired of white saviors and being talked about and told constantly they are helpless to help themselves, too stupid to get an id or get on the internet, and just generally incapable of living life competently.

The problem is not just money, but also the people elected to use those resources responsibly.

I tire of hearing about public tax payer money spent on the lsu football coach. it's a marker for someone who is deceitful or downright stupid.

So please tell us; exactly how much money does the “City of Baton Rouge” spend on football.
