And this is the reason no one reads that shite anymore.
Anytime someone throws out the whole "there is too much money in sports, it should be used for ______" I can't take them serious. What does one have to do with the other?
And how is money going to stop gun violence? There is a whole different market on the streets for guns that no new laws will fix. Neither would applying money to... I am not sure what you can throw more money at to stop it.
How about elect a mayor who will appoint a chief that will be allowed to run their own department and not be a puppet for the mayor?
Then you have to be realistic and understand that as long as there is a demand for illegal drugs, there will be crime in the streets. That's just how it works.
Do they want gang members to get NIL deals so they don't have to sell drugs anymore?
I must admit, I wrote this just based on the title so if this is some bullshite article that I am taking serious when its a joke then its because of only reading the title of the thread.

Look at LA demographics and take a guess why.
It ain’t everyone in a certain group but a high percentage of people in a certain age range who are male are disproportionately in prison.
And LA has the highest population of them per capita outside of Mississippi IIRC.

It’s not the black lsu players going around shooting people.

Not the black basketball players either. They just end up as bullet sponges if they get within spitting distance of Southern.

It's not just misrepresentation, it's outright false. Going by the numbers published in the article or by the EBR coroner's website there's no way to get 84% from 2019. So either they are too stupid to do basic math or they are outright lying.
Also, they are certainly ignoring the fatal drug OD numbers in EBR.
2021 - 300 (with pending toxicology reports.
2020 - 242
2019 - 126
2018 - 102
2017 - 111
2016 - 89

Okay, I looked at the article. This is fricking golden. The money put into sports programs and athletes are investments. Winning sports programs bring in more money. It is huge for the local economy. And it is known where that money is going.
How about stop letting repeat offenders out of jail early. And speaking of money. Stop locking up people for stupid shite and use the money that would go towards housing those prisoners to go towards throwing money to fix gun violence (you might want to get a plan first before throwing money at it).
Stop trying to redirect the fact the elected officials are failing.

We just fired a coach that won a NC because he couldn't keep the program moving forward. Somehow I don't think Hillar and Broome want the same rules in place for them.
Posted on 1/25/22 at 1:59 pm to Jcorye1
I think Broome wants millions for being told to frick off like O.

Well that is a lie if we are talking LSU which is probably the target. LSU gets 0 public dollars for sports.
Now Southern on the other hand.
Now Southern on the other hand.

OK, well lets start with cutting the program that generates less money, Southern U.

This is a stupid post.
Now tell me why the USA locks up more people than any other country.

The main answer?
We commit more crimes and have a functioning criminal justice system

No one should be without anything unless they are truly mentally ill or severely lazy.
The problem is that they are lazy and refuse to better themselves. It’s easier to live off the scraps of Government benefits. The culture in these communities where the killings occur glamorize violence, shooting people, selling drugs, “I fricked your bitch”, type of lifestyle. Gun violence will not slow down in BR, if anything it’s going to get much worse this year.

And we have an entire underclass of idiots incapable of doing anything but crime indoctrinated since birth that whatever they do is right, you can take what you want without consequences, etc.
Turns out, eventually a judge will lock you up and throw away the key if you frick up badly enough.

Hilar is a fricking moron.
You can throw (i.e., piss away) all the money you want at "the community" and you'll have the same fricking issues.

Somebody lay out a proposal that will actually work, do what is intended, and won't end up in somebody's pocket, I'll take a look at it. I'll donate as much as I think it's worth to me.

This is correct, and it starts in EBR public schools. It's the "soft bigotry of low expectations" happening daily in real time. I have spent quite a bit of time in these schools over the years, and I cannot begin to count the number of fist fights I witnessed. Zero punishment, just a little counseling and calming down, and right back to class.
A student would literally have to punch a teacher in the face to get expelled, and that would still require a boat load of bs meetings. The craziest thing I have ever witnessed.
