Yes, teen boys have never been let in through the back door by their girlfriends. We have to get the police on this.

cop put that listen and act right in him really quick, fell so hard he broke a brick off.

See act ignorant and don’t comply and think your Mr. Badarse, and all the sudden electricity shot into you makes you realize that he shoulda listened

I’m sure it will be well worth it, unless additional facts come out. Mr. Badass about to get paid.

I didn’t read through everything so I aloud this is already posted. This is a good link that talks about Florida rules are you can’t taze for passive resistance. You can only do it for aggressive resistance or if the cops life or someone else’s is in danger. This sounds like he pretty clearly broke policy and is screwed.

He actually complied.. Right? Or did I miss something?

From the clip you posted he did not comply. And didn't again when told to put his hands behind his back. So he got zapped.

If my kid acted like that, I would have thanked the cop for tasing him. I think a baton knocking that phone out of his hand and a smack with it would have been better.

At this point of your scenario what crime does he suspect them of?

Honestly, I imagine the cop thought he would find something on the kid like drugs or something. The cop sees the kid run away from him, and the cop thought he would end up busting the kid for weed or a gun.

You know, I really believe that this touches on one of the key reasons people disagree so much about this kind of thing.

Putting the actual laws aside for a moment, and just speaking in terms of pure principles - you have some people who are inclined to think “if a kid looks suspicious, he probably has something to hide. Nothing wrong with the cops stopping them and making sure they aren’t carrying any illegal drugs or anything. That’s their job - to catch criminals.”

Then you have people who are inclined to think “if nobody has reported a crime, and the cop doesn’t see a crime being committed, he should have no authority to stop and search someone. This is a fundamental right in America that exists to prevent authoritarian behavior.”

Those are generalizations, and there’s a lot of room in between. But I think most people lean pretty heavily one way or the other, and I think that gap leads to these types of arguments where both sides think the other side is nuts.

Personally, I’m in the “this is a fundamental right” camp and I think it’s bullshite that the bar that a cop needs to clear to stop and search someone is so low and subjective. Which also means that personally, I think “he might have drugs” is a complete bullshite reason for the police to detain someone. But I realize not everybody feels that way, for whatever reason.

Roll in a layer of bias and you probably account for a lot.

There’s a hell of a lot of people that love their own freedom but don’t mind those other people being subjected to nonsense.

And told the cop either "frick you" or "frick off". While continuing to text on his phone.

I don't know if the cop was in the right or wrong, but I've seen enough cops getting ambushed to see where the cop's mind was.

I also wouldn't call what that kid did passive.

Cops job is to defuse, not escalate, and all he did was escalate.

#1 The trooper DID NOT approach the "kid" with the taser.

#2 the trooper DID NOT escalate the situation, the suspect did by refusing to comply.

Teen tazed for not putting hands behind his back.

Race had nothing to do with this.

Which, in this case is absurd.

This is as much speculation as those claiming it was racially motivated. We can’t know for sure what caused the officer to follow the teen unless the office acknowledges it.
