Robert Johnson's Big Idea: $14 trillion in slavery reparations to African-Americans
I agree 100%. We should pay any living person who was ever a legal slave for their unpaid labor. BUT since no such person exists in the US..... oh well.

There was like 30 million white people in the US in 1865.
There's now like 285 million white people in the. Ellis Island alone accounts for 12 million mostly white immigrants coming her
Further, how many people actually owned slaves? Shouldn’t only descendents of those particular white families be required to pay?
And even further, hasn’t it been told that some slaves were treated quite nicely and were cordial with the owners, much like being an employee of a family business? Would they owe less?

I think this is a good number for what they are owed. Take the $14 trillion, subtract all government welfare benefits already paid to the would be recipients and their predecessors post-emancipation. The balance should then be distributed evenly amongst African-Americans.

If this guy is a billionaire, why cant any other african americans be one?
I'll tell you what puts people financially behind in this country and it has nothing to do with slavery from 150+ years ago.
Its lack of education and work ethic.

Wut ?? Oh you mean you didn’t realize there was Chinese slaves brought in the US to build the California railroads? You probably didn’t know about that because they don’t sit on the porch and collect free handouts while shooting the pistol sideways. They decided to rise up and make something of theirselves versus playing the woe is me card and looking for a free handout.. you will never break that mentality in some people.
joke over your head. There are legitimately people who think asians and central americans only came to the US in the 60-70s.
irish were also slaves (some argue had a near equal # to AA's), same with japanese in the 1800s. Japanese were also forcefully incarcerated in the 1940s.

If they will leave the country and never come back, pay it.

African-Americans would get $350,000 in direct cash payments
So we would be even then?

No. You would never hear the end of it. Civil war is way cheaper. They are in a hurry to forget that we have turn our weapons on each other. It was a bloodbath where both sides took great losses. Of anyone out there, an American is an adversary I would hate to face, but I would.

Honestly should be tad higher...over 20 years instead of 30... also people 50+ years old payments should be paid over 10 years ... 75+ should be paid in full

The $350,000 would signify the wealth disparity between African-Americans and white Americans
What about the affirmative action and quota disparity between blacks and whites, the welfare received per capita disparity between whites and blacks, and the crime cost to society per capita disparity between whites and blacks?
That's on top of dealing with people whose family never owned slaves, made up of various mixed races (for both paying and receiving consideration), and/or didn't immigrate until after civil war to more recently for all races.
How do many immigrants of various colors come to the US and do better as a whole than blacks here long before them? In past i could see English not first language in household Hispanic kids as a group scoring higher than blacks as a group on Texas state testing including English or language tests after awhile. Kids whose parents immigrated from India outscore everyone. Seeking opportunity versus expecting hand out due to generational victimhood and dependency pushed by those that profit from it politically or financially. Breakdown of 2 parent black family started with LBJ's war on poverty.
It's people like Johnson that show many blacks have had opportunity to prosper and have have done so, and just like taxes that success would have to be accounted for in what they might receive.

Since they are all extraordinary law abiding citizens, giving them $350,000 each sounds like a fantastic idea. Nothing like a little venture-capital to kickstart another Civil War
