Good coaches rarely sit on their hands; they try to manufacture runs when runs ain’t happening the old fashioned way. Unfortunately for Jay, it blew up in his face.
But we’ve seen plenty of times his moves pay off.
I think we have a pretty good handle now on what THIS team is going to be. Average to slightly above.
Now Jay and his staff have to find some way to create confidence in his hitters to take the pressure off the other phases of the game.

I always thought catcher and third base were similar “tough guy” positions. Give up your body, snap throws, don’t need quite as much lateral quickness just a willingness to soak up the body blows and make sharp accurate throws when needed
