Louisiana AG Liz Murrill Fires Back At SEC Over Latest Court Filing In LSU Lawsuit

USA TODAY Sports via Reuters Connect
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill fired back at the SEC on Tuesday after the conference filed its latest response in the ongoing federal lawsuit involving LSU.
The SEC argued that its lawsuit should not be dismissed and called LSU's potential expulsion from the conference a "very real threat," despite the school's decision not to roster former professional football players Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris.
Murrill responded with a statement criticizing SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey and calling for the lawsuit to be dismissed.
"The new response by SEC lawyers proves that the Commissioner was never acting in good faith," Murrill said. "LSU has broken no rules, and the case is moot. The lawsuit was garbage from the start and should be dismissed."
Murrill has maintained that the lawsuit is unnecessary because LSU has not violated conference rules. The SEC, however, argues that LSU's decision not to roster the players does not resolve the larger dispute over eligibility and conference membership.
