And with Caleb, there is a chance that there is some intentional editing going on here. With that said, as soon as he said "I'm guessing it's about $8k", the guy on the show that appears to know her well also gave a nod implying Caleb's guess was correct.
If I remember right, she said how much her income was per month and then said how much her business made per month. That's where Caleb got the number from.

So, 100% is standard disability?
Well, I say standard disability is 10%, so you were off $4,300.

Just from people I know, I would assume that a huge percentage of the disability claims -- exaggerated or rightful -- quite specifically come from service in relation to wars in Iraq, Afganistan and soon Iran.
The necessity of the sheer amount of service people put in harm's way in those conflicts that results in disability claims is pretty questionable.
i see what you're saying. you're probabyl right to a degree. but you'd be astonished at how many people are getting high disability ratings who have never heard a shot fired in anger. some of thos obviously are legit problems from rigorous training here in the states, which is legit. but lots of them havent even done that.

Yeah I am not aware of any disability level that pays that much

I work with a woman that gets 100% VA disability of about $4,300 on top of her $8,500 salary.

Saw that episode this weekend.
I'm not sure there isn't some man on man stuff going on with the business partner.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Seems the only way to get rid of the illegitimate claims is increasing spending on doctors/tests etc and even that is iffy.
Otherwise, you'll almost certainly end up denying benefits to people that actually served and legitimately need support due to it.
Just personally, I had an older relative who fell on the job at the Whiting Field naval base in the 80s and was always pretty sure he was milking the disability payments.
However, I also had an uncle who went to Vietnam and a family friend that served in the first Gulf War and both came back physically OK but legitimately messed up mentally, severe PTSD or whatever the right term.
It just seems to tough to police. Which is why it seems a bit more prudent to make it one more great reason to not keep jumping into all these middle east conflicts one after another.

She ain’t pole dancing in a wheelchair or with a prosthetic arm unless it’s in the back of a dive bar

She would have to be an SMC R or T to get $8k a month and both of those designations are pretty seriously fricked up, not in the faking fricked up kinda way.

There are a lot of 92Gs that burn most of the time in a chow hall but are in a unit like the 82nd or even the 75th RRC. There are plenty of opportunities for them to get hurt. It ain't 18X or 11X work, but there are a lot of cooks in high op tempo units.

I'm watching this whole episode right now. What train wreck!

100% disability rating for just her alone would be $3938.58. With kids that would add $201 per child.
I know people getting almost $4500 a month no kids. That’s their retirement right there.

Well, in her defense, “pole dancing” can be construed as something other than standard strip club pole dancing.

Just take a look around at the number of "disabled veteran" tags you see.
No way it's legit at the scale I've seen. People are absolutely abusing it.
And no one will touch it.

One good way to limit future military disability, abused or rightful, is to stop making political decisions that put so many service members in harm's way.
Yes.
But peacetime disability has skyrocketed as well. Co-pilot says 25 to 35% of all us vets (not just combat vets) are on disability.
It's a racket just like the SS disability is a racket. Both have their abusers.

Why is “plenty of opportunities to get hurt” such a strong reason here?
We can say the same about 1,000 different professions outside of the military that do more for our country than a lot of these men and women. I’m sorry but just because someone is “in the armed forces” doesn’t automatically place them on an untouchable plateau.
Here’s the real problem, the real financial answer is your cooks, your truck drivers, your logistics personnel, etc what scamming like this does is force the military to contract it all out. It’s a hell of a lot cheaper to pay 3x for a contractor for 1 year of actual work than it is paying these positions for 50 years due to “disability”.

100% she was a barracks bunny that has accused at least one of sexual assault. When I was in AIT a couple of classes ahead of me there was a female and she was hanging all over a guy, told friends she was gonna sleep with him, and they all went out and she ended up hooking up with that guy. The next day her boyfriend from home shows up to surprise her, got where they were staying from a friend, and when she got caught she claimed rape. A whole investigation happened that took months and held people over who graduated for them to come to the conclusion she made it up because she didn't want to admit she was cheating. They let her stay in and she went to Korea and then accused another guy 1 year later. She ended up getting out with disability for sexual assault. It was a cautionary tale and to anyone who is in you should think twice before hooking up with females in the military who are enlisted plus most of them are a sperm bank. If you hook up with one of them you most likely have a ton of Eskimo Bros in the barracks. There are a few good one who are stable ,but they are far and few between.
