Worked for a guy that was habitually late for important appointments.
He would also leave clients in lobby for 30-45 min past original appointment.

Power move.

I always say that if you’re early, you’re on time. If you’re on time, you’re late. If you’re late, don’t show up.

If you are late 5-10 minutes, no big deal.

frick that, 10 minutes early mean you are 5 minutes late.

This also applies to drivers who put-put down the interstate like theyre on a Sunday cruise during morning rush hour and people inching their way across a grocery like they got a finger in their arse.

That sounds like your problem, leave earlier.

It's been quite a few times a woman will nonchalantly show up 30-60 minutes late without a valid excuse and I'll be sitting by myself looking like an idiot just waiting for you

And you still waited on her. You are an idiot. And a punk arse bitch boy.

The people that don't respect other people's time are the same people that leave their shopping carts everywhere but in the racks where they belong.

It’s entertaining to me that most people think doctors are just sitting around with their thumbs up their arse. If they overbook, you bitch about waiting in the office. If they don’t, you bitch about not being able to get an appointment.
Also, you don’t consider that maybe the patient before you just got devastating news. Or maybe they required an interpreter service as required by law. Or maybe they were just an a-hole that showed up one minute before the 15min deadline, f’ing up the timeline for everyone behind them. Regardless, a “late” doctor is likely (at least partially) late due to circumstances beyond their control.

It's called "time blindness" and it's a real disability that a lot of young people are stricken with.

my Dad engrained this in us "The classic "15 minutes early" rule—popularized by legendary NFL coach Vince Lombardi's "Lombardi Time"—is a golden standard for stress-free living."
I still call it Lombardi Time

Imagine being prior military and marrying into an Hispanic family where everything is based on Mexican Time.

My beloved stepdad, who has since departed this Earth, was a Kiowa Indian who served in Vietnam. He had his own business and the Army drilled a sense of time into him, which served him well as a small biz owner. But he said things were very different growing up on the Rez. When someone was late to something, he’d always joke “you must be on Indian Time”.

If I'm late for something or feel like I'm bordering on late I kick it into hyperdrive, skip unneeded steps..speed up in some way.

Add an almost debilitating sense of anxiety kicking me into that hyperspeed and that's me. As soon as I get do the calculation that hints I may be late, I begin to break into a cold sweat and it gets worse from there.

quote:

we can already be late and she is moving at the exact same pace as if we had 3 hours to spare and it sets my brain and nervous system a blaze

And, we seem to be married to the same woman. If it's looking like we are going to be late, my wife will start doing shite around the house that she hasn't done in months! "oh, now seems like a good time to change the sheets on the guest bed that no one's slept in, and no guests are expected to sleep in, for months" I swear she's trying to give me a stroke or something.

We were late to get on the road for a vacation that was going to be a 8 hour drive. I was sitting in the truck simmering in a pool of anxiety as she putzed around in the house doing who knows what. When she finally got in the truck she looked over and said something like "you look upset." and was already in defense mode. She was starting to bristle up and ready to fight back.

I said "You making us late physically affects me in a way that turns me from the extremely easy going nice guy into a complete a-hole. This is not by my choice. I can't control how being late makes me feel, and you have complete control over being on time. This is the last vacation I am going to start in a fight. Either you manage your time such that we leave on time or early, or I'm not going."

I did my level best to say that with love in my eyes, not the nuclear rage I was internalizing. Surprisingly, she heard it, and took it.

Now, she does her best to try to be early, but almost never is. But she IS on time.

She back slides every now and then, it's like it's in her DNA to move slower and slower the later she becomes.

The worst are the "Everyone knows I'm going to be late, they expect it" types*.

This describes my 12-year-old son to a T. Won't hurry no matter how much you harang him. It's just how he is but it drives me crazy sometimes.

It's hard to believe he's only missed the bus once this year.
