We have friends that do the same thing. We show up and one is jumping in the shower. We started arriving 25-30 minutes late which we did the other day and they called us out since they know we are always on time. We laughed and told them why we were late, not sure anything will change.

My in laws are the opposite of this. They live in the same town as we do so we go for meals often. Last weekend we had a birthday to celebrate so we went over for lunch on Sunday. We had told them we’d be there around 1:15. They don’t go to church and had been home all morning. Yet when we get there, he’s still fixing twice baked potatoes and hasn’t even started the grill for the steaks. My wife asks if we’re having a salad or anything while we’re waiting and he either didn’t hear us talking or ignores us. Over an hour later the meal is finally ready. I told her to eat a snack before we headed over but she thought it would be ready when we got there. It has never been ready when we arrive. Always at least an hour.

I was raised to be prompt. Be at work 15-20mjn early or you're already late. My Dad was big on this issue.

ETA: both GD, Dad and myself were prior military. Basic Training was a breeze for me after being brought up by those 2.

I left work 30m early yesterday so that I could mow my lawn before the rain came, so I'm basically the opposite of who you're complaining about.

I fired a Primary Care Physician at Emory because she was always at least 30-minutes late.

I "fired" an optometrist after waiting well over an hour one time.. only to then wait longer for a different test.

Never went back. New guy us closer to the house and much more prompt.

Imagine being prior military and marrying into an Hispanic family where everything is based on Mexican Time.

It's not unheard of for them to be six hours late!

I don’t like showing up to anything late.

My wife is a “if it’s not a formal thing then the time doesn’t really matter” kinda person and it drives me insane.

To your traffic comment though, I hate when people drive like they have somewhere to go that is more important than everyone else on the road. It’s usually trucks with lifts (or Altimas) that are being driven by these jackasses.

Get out of the passing lane, old fart.

Nobody should be relaxed when driving. You should always be scanning all your mirrors, looking for threats (people like you), anticipating the lane changes of others, tracking everyone's momentum on the road around you, etc.

Most people you see have literally no where to go and nothing to do.

A constant topic between my wife & I.

I berled it down to respect. Either have respect for other peoples’ time or be a d-bag.
Self vs selfish imbalance is at the center.

I yell “rebalance” when she is running late. She calls me an a-hole. It just works like this now.

Hear you!

I had a baseball coach that said if you’re on time you’re late. That stuck with me so I’m usually 10 minutes early to everything. My wife and daughter on the other hand. Geez.

On a similar note who can’t stand people that walk slow. I’ve been a fast walker since college. Had to walk fast to get to the next class on time. People walking in front of me just lazily moving along drives me crazy.

I very much dislike being late for anything and, if I'm going to be, will always text to let the person know.

I hate to break it to you...but you're one who's always late

This. I am punctual, early, and I drive with no stress because I have time to get where I need to be. People driving around and changing lanes like a crackhead trying to get 2 cars ahead make everything worse for everyone. If people drove the speed limit and paid attention we would all get where we are going, sooner. I stay out of the left lane unless passing, but the life lesson is to leave early and drive chill.

The term is "Fashionably Late"
Apparently you have no sense of fashion.

Nah, I'm chill

I try my best to help others flow, but not when it impedes those actually following the law.
Don't get me wrong, I love to speed bit, especially on longer trips that would actually save time. But I understand when my increased speed makes me have to slow up more frequently.
Bottom line, fuq you. Left lane is for passing, but that doesn't mean just because you're speeding, others can't be there initiating a slower pass than youde prefer.

Da fuq I'm gonna rey a maneuver to move outta someone else's way, just because they are trying to do 90, and everyone else is calmly doing 70.

A left lane camper on I-45 caused 34 lane changes in the nine cars in front of me that were between me and the camper. On a multi hour drive, this one car, ONE CAR, can be extrapolated to have caused thousands of lane changes by cars to get around it.

Oh, and it is state law that it is your duty to move into a lane on your right if it is safe to do so on a multi-lane road, without regard of speed limits or speed of travel. But yes, continue to lazy your way through life.
